Hi from NEOhio

About to decide on a new 'used' mini. '07 with lower miles or '10 with higher miles????

Had a 'Old' 1999 vintage mini while living in Germany in 2000.

This will be my first 'new' mini. And it will be a 'S'.

Still not sure to go for Gen1 or 2... as the debate will continue. But in Ohio, I have to go for 'less rust'.

I do my own maintenance so, looking forward to the journey.

Welcome to NAM.

There is an immense amount of information here on the Gen2 cars. If you have not already done so, can I suggest you check that subforum out? Are there any maintenance records for the cars? On the Gen2 need to watch for the chain tensioner.

Welcome. Look for MINI with no rust, check out the southern ohio region. As those tend to have less rust and not exposed to the massive salt they use up here. If you can in Gen 1 MINIs look for ones that lived in a garage or WV down.

Welcome.

I prefer the Gen 1s, however as time passes the MODs will diminish and the newer cars show more favor with the aftermarket.

Either way, you will have a blast.

Motor ON!

Hi and welcome to NAM. We hope you find what you are looking for. I am all about the gen 1 models, especially the 05/06 models with w11 engines (convertibles to 08).
Show us the pics of your choices.

How long does the timing chain last?

The 2010 's' w/105k mi is from the Columbus area and had the timing chain done @ around 40k m981. Water pump has been done twice. Will The chain needed to be done again soon?

Seems to have a complete and thorough service history documented. Though, a few accidents are documented.

Well... I decided.

I picked a 2003 base model w/88K miles. Southern Ohio Car That seems to have been well taken care of.

I preferred it over a 2010 'S' model w/105K. The 2010 had a leaking turbo oil line, AC didn't work and a fault code for a ABS Pump failure that would not clear.

So the journey begins

Yep! Thats the one. I'm impressed on the condition of it for a 14yr old car. It has been well taken care of, and no rust! And I highly recommend those guys at Bob's.

Already ordered my set of service manuals from ECS Tuning!

Very happy with my choice!

Awesome, yes I saw it almost every day and looked ver clean. Was going to stop and take a look at it. I bet it was not there more than a month. Its rare because it's very clean for the age, has a solid top and painted the same color as the car, most people went with a black or white top. What does in the inside look like?

Thanks for the orders.
