Hello, World! From Michigan with a Clubman S on order

Hey, all!

I've been poking around here for a little while since I decided to order a MINI. I like the community so far. :-)

I received my product number on January 13th, about 11 days ago, which I memorized in the first half of the day entering it severally many times attempting to get into the Owners' Lounge- like a giddy child. My VIN came in yesterday, which I've also memorized.

At any rate, I've made it into the Owners' Lounge once, and it linked my production number to a 2010 MCS- obviously a recycled number that just hasn't been updated into the system yet. However- I was initially told that production begins on the 28th, and a phone call yesterday informed me that production had begun at 6:40am that morning. I understand that this is just the staging point that can take another 5 days or so before I see my status updated to being in the body shop or something exciting- but yeah, I'm still pretty excited.

Happy to be around here waiting for dates.

Some info on my order- I know some would be curious...

Clubman S All4, manual. BRG, black mirror caps, roof, bonnet stripes and wheels. Fully loaded and cold weather package. HUD, Active Driving Assistant, LED cornering lights, fiber alloy illuminated interior, pod bay door opener, roof rails, split rear seat, All seasons and the space saver spare, Qi wireless charging and the new touchscreen interface on the dash (really pleased with that- looks like I ordered just in time for the new interface!)

Definitely loaded up at just a few hundred shy of $40k MSRP, and I worked out ordering it for 5% under- which felt like a good deal. Terribly excited. With 17 days on the boat to my port in Baltimore, I'm guessing around the last week of February or the first week of March as a reasonable time to start expecting delivery if every step goes well.

Welcome!

Motor On!

I'm in the same boat with the recycled production number. It's been three weeks since I ordered an no updates on the Owner's Lounge yet. Number still shows as a 2013 model.

Sorry to hear that. What does your MA at the dealership say? Have you spoken with anyone at ASK-MINI yet? Have you had your production number the entire past three weeks? Sounds like a long time- I feel your pain.

Make sure to sign up for MINI on the Mack August 5th. Mini of Grand Rapids can get you the details. Trying (for the third time) to break the world record for the most Minis in a row while driving across the Mackinac Bridge. 1300+ in 2015.

Gave up using the Owner's Lounge and spoke to a human. I'm in production now with an estimated completion of 2/2/17! After that I guess I'm waiting for a boat.

Ha! That's quite amusing- it would appear they'll be bunk mates. :-)

Gave up on the online portal as well, a human just told me that it's also expected to be completed on the 2nd. From then they'll take the train ride to Southampton together and float across- 17 days, if your port is Baltimore as well.

Thanks for the welcome from ECSTuning. I'm looking forward to annoying my wife with how much money I spend on your site. ;-)

Exited to see your experiences. The Clubman is on top of my list of cars to look at in a few years.

Well, it's 2/2 think we finished production? Was at the Philly Auto Show on Tuesday and got a chance to see the car again up close compared to the new Countryman. Very pleased with my decision.

You shouldn't be in too big of a hurry...Winter kind of takes the shine off your car!

Yeah, mate- I think it's they've probably taken them for a lap or two by now. :-) Next up, the train ride to seaside- and a 17 day float. All goes well, we should be motoring by the first week of March.

I agree with you on the Countryman. While I haven't seen much on the new model, aside from the exterior (I like the stance) it doesn't do much for me. Seems a bit light on available features , standard equipment- and I've elected to load my MINI all the way up- so it just didn't do it for me. Clubman reeks of a higher level of refinement for the brand. While this auto is mostly for school runs- I'll take the comfort for now and "step up" to a proper MCS once I can do with many less doors. ;-)

Sorry for the double posting- but I just had to excitedly mention that I've received word on my MINI: it's been built, tested and released to vehicle distribution logistics. Likely at the port (in Southampton?) waiting for a 17 day boat ride. :-)

Thank you. I absolutely will post pics as soon as I can. :-)

I've learned that it is indeed at the port waiting for a boat since the 4th. It was suggested that I call back on Friday to possibly be given the name of the boat, and then be able to track that. Very exciting. :-D

Those snows and steelies make a big difference in the winter.

The best part of the snows and steelies is that since I've had them (got them beginning of last winter), we've had easy winters. They do help though.

Yes, I cant believe how many MINIs I see running RF 18" low profile summer tires/wheels in the winter and then they complain it won't go in the snow. With my studs on my R52 its a tank.

Ha! Yes- I see the run flats all over here in Michigan. Not sure what people are thinking. I went with the all season tires, and I still want to pick up a set of steels and Nokian hakkapeliittas before next winter hits. We have been having some disappointingly mild winters here, same as ShipM8- and hopefully with a bit of luck it'll be gone this season by the time my MINI arrives so I can get a nice thick coat of wax and my snow tires on there before it sees much snow/salt. :-)
