Confessions of a stubborn old man.

I was wrong I admit it. I've always had the opinion that the new Mini was just another copy of an amazing original car. A rip off, like so many other names from the past that have been regurgitated and slapped on some boring FWD 4 door.

I was not looking for a Mini. If anything, I was looking the other way.

Being a lifelong aircooled VW and vintage Datsun guy, I always had a fondness for the classic Mini. Then a few weeks ago I needed a car, and bought an 05 MCS, thinking my soon to be driving teenager might like it.

Well she's not getting it! BMW didn't exploit the Mini brand, they paid homage to it. Great little car. Please forgive me for sneering at you on the interstate. Thanks for letting me join.

I have been loving Artoo my 2003 MCS for 14 years and 160,000 now and each time I go to buy something new or take a test drive, nothing compares.

That said, I do have my eye on a black on black M235i off lease which may be in my driveway soon. The M2 would be better but I am not sure I could hide the cost from my accountant even if I say honey, let's take a trip to Europe. And by the way, we are stopping to pick up my new car. <G>

Motor On!

Welcome Eric, you are in good company. For many years I owned VW Ovals, Air Cooled 911's and other odd ball cars. Then one day out of the clear blue I went and bought a water cooled 911, lol. Recently I bought this R53 while shopping for an 02-06 M3. Well, honestly I'm smitten by this little car and all I can do with it. I drank the koolaid.

Looks similar. R53 owner here as well. Congrats and welcome to Mini Motoring. Any questions, please ask. We've been working with the brand for over 40 years. Happy to help!

It sure does! I really like the silver roof/body and chrome mirrors.

Hi and welcome to NAM, Eric JB
Unless you own a mini, you can not guess how awesome they are.
I bought one im March of 2016 and now buy used ones, fix them up and sell them. Happily, I habe found many people that understand and want to own these jems!
