So I needed a 2nd car for commuting and ended up trading my motorcycle for this 2003 r50. This is my first mini and so far I am having a blast with it! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but I am a total newbie with this one!

Welcome. Nice to see more R50's on the forums. The early 2002-2003 ones are a rare sight anymore. I have a 2005 Convertible I still drive daily.

Yeah, I've gotta admit that's a little concerning to me haha!

It's just that they have gotten older and people have stopped caring for them. There's nothing inherently wrong with the early cars. Everybody wants an R53 so the R50s just get left out and forgotten. I personally wouldn't give up my R50 for an R53 (a JCW maybe, definitely for a GP).

Welcome to NAM and the world of MINI motoring! You have many years of grins ahead of you. Love the color combination (of course, it matches mine.)

Feel free to check out our website for service & maintenance info, application and performance upgrade guides.

Drive Hard. Drive Safe. Keep Grinning.

I loved my R50, (LilB), but there is a night and day difference between my R50 and my R53, all good...

Hi and welcome to nam. Lots of folks here to help you, if the need arises.
I have a few base models and the 5 and six speed manuals are getting from 40 to 44 mpg. The S models get around 31 mpg, but they are a kick in the pants!
keep us posted
