Hello, I'm new to the mini scene, no idea why it took me so long I recently purchased a 2004S 40th edition #781/1000. The car only had 51,304 miles and I couldn't resist after test driving it. I love this little car! I landed on this group because I'm used to 4WDs not sports cars so I need to learn a lot! Upgrades have been made to this car and I'm trying to figure them all out. Thanks in advance for all the useful info!
Shown "getting ready to drive off the lot"? You mean it was purchased from a dealer lot? MINI or other? There must be an interesting story there. Something unique like that as 1st gen MCS or better with low miles is essentially what I was looking for when I was shopping 3 months ago. Couldn't find that within driving distance, so bought my (sig) MCS as low mileage CPO lease turn in from the nearest MINI dealer prox 80 miles from my small town.
Nice find! Does it still have the MC40 plate in front of the shifter, the MC40 shift ****, and the GB emblems on the hatch? Check out MC40.com if you haven't already.
Thanks, I just got lucky. At the time I had no idea what I was looking at, just knew that I had really liked them for a while. Funny this is I bought the only Mini I've ever driven I bought it from a small dealer who bought it from our main Mini dealership who got it from the 2nd owner in Alaska who bought it on Ebay from New York. Whew... I knew this car was special and didn't want to pass it up. Actually I was able to get in touch with the original owner. He gave me some history but not all and I'm waiting to hear back. He had done upgrades and raced the car a handful of times at Watkins Glen during his 10 years with it. With a few exceptions the car is in excellent condition. The car has an Alta intake and a cat eye magnaflow exhaust, maybe more but I'm not sure. I'm having to run 93 octane plus booster to keep it somewhat happy. I have ordered semi custom rocker stripes with "37" in the wings as a nod back it's origin. I'll post pictures after I get them on.

Wow, what a beautiful car! And so well equipped beyond that of the special mechanical and performance equipment! Love the combo of exterior color, wheels, 2-tone leather seating and CF trim. What a keeper! Still seems incredible that prior owner turned it into a dealer rather than private party. Maybe was more interested in expediency than best price for such a unique MINI...
Thank you Actually owner #1 sold it on Ebay to owner #2 in Alaska who owned it for a very brief time. I have no idea how it got to Albuquerque, NM. #1 really appreciated it for what it is and took great care. So I'm #3 and I don't plan to let go. I think this one will be the start of a Mini collection.
