Free Brady!

Greetings from Boston.

I own a diesel that VW is going to buy back from me shortly, so I went looking for an inexpensive used car to carry me over until I figure out what I really want.

I found a one-owner 2010 MINI Convertible with 100k miles. What should I look out for maintenance-wise? Dealer said they replaced front struts. The rubber seal around the soft top was cracked, but otherwise it looked solid. Drove kind of hard, but thought that might be from the run-flat tires.

I'm heading over to FAQ now, this post is just to introduce myself

S or standard model? Timing chain replaced? Manual or automatic? Depending on how it's equipped, it could be a find or a deal breaker!

Thanks for the response.

It has a base engine with automatic trans (wife can't drive a manual). Mostly highway miles.

Got it for $7.7k

Sounds like a very good deal! The turbo models had the timing chain problem so the base model should be good. Please post some pix when you have the chance. Plus, here's a handy maintenance guide to help make sure everything is in shape before you made any mods. Please let us know if we can help!

Thanks - just picked it up today.

I need an armrest.

Also, I paired my cell phone with Bluetooth but can't seem to play music or Nav audio through car speakers. Online owners manual says refer to separate radio manual but I can't find it.

Thanks for the new owner discount - ordered an iPhone holder and armrest (appreciate the install video).

Issues:

Phone book not connecting even though iPhone paired through Bluetooth

Getting "error" message when I select USB on the radio. Does the USB connection not work on newer iPhones?

Here are some armrests that may help, along with instructions. Plus, we have a video as well.

Sounds great. Seems I saw a video on that one, too.
