Finally leased a New 2015 Mini Cooper with 2Dr in Red/Black today. From a BMW Family and still own BMWs (X5, 335i) so used to German Cars. Mini will be my second car and still learning all the tricks Mini has to Offer.
Few things I have already observed are
1) The engine cover where the Oil Cap sits kind of Rattle or shake a lot as compare to my other BMWs, Is that Normal for MC ?
2) Its 6 speed Auto and observing with lower speed like 15-25mph the Gears seems to be high like the car is in 3rd or 4th Gear already and RPM seems to be very low at these speeds, try all 3 modes and it get better in Sport mode as compare to Green..
I can't comment on the the newest engine configuration and the choice of transmissions.(great color combination BTW) I haven't had any experience with the newest models, I did get to see about 20 brand new JCWs last weekend at Lime Rock.
The gearing is very low for lower RPM in order to save gas. You will find just driving song at even 50 you can stay in a low RPM range. Green will feel the lowest as it will shift sooner in order to keep it low.
I can't comment much on the plastic shaikh as mine doesn't move at all. Maybe give it a push down to ensure all the clips are seated?
I have a 2015 jcw with the auto btw
Also adding a small clip of the sound I noticed, now its looks normal to me but I have seen cars much quieter then this car. My Sales Rep told me its Normal for Minis to have that sound.
@ECSTuning I am used to Turbo in the Past with Driving BMW 335i Sport for 5 years.
I do like the power and pick/zip this Mini has due to Turbo even though its not even S.
I am kicking my self now why I did not go for S for few bucks more per month.
I have talked to some Cooper vs Cooper S people in the new turbo F56 comparison and most people who bought the 3 cylinder really like it. And they like the sound of the 3.
