New Mini Owner

Hey guys, I recently purchased my first Mini kind of on a whim for a "work" vehicle. Already this is a love hate relationship, just like any other German vehicle, yes I said German. Looking forward to gaining some much needed advice and hopefully making some friends a long the way.

On to the car!

2005 Mini Cooper S in Electric Blue. (Not the best color but it was spur of the moment)

That's what most people say! It's hard to leave these cars stock, just too much fun when modified!

yeah I've never been able to leave any vehicle or motorcycle that I have owned alone. this mini is a very different approach for me aside from my 90 g60 corrado. My friends are trying to get me to auto X this thing and I am starting to fall for it. I know I want to have more power and upgrade the suspension but I will also be driving this for work, long distance trips so I need to still get good MPG. I am afraid that I will get in too deep and end up ruining my MPG. Does anyone know around the area or mods that will make the MPG plummet?

I also have a problem with the car that is rather new. I posted in the 1st gen section with a link of a video for the "knocking" noise that I can't figure out.
