2006 R53 Checkmate auto

New to the Cooper world, not new to sport compact hatches . Have had my mini for less then a year and love it, and modified it a lot! List is to long to post here. A lot of Mini's around my area but no serious enthusiast's. I joined NAM to hopefully get some insight on a couple more serious mods I am interested in.

I hope the forum has a lot of helpful people and technically inclined as well.

Welcome and post up some pics, checkmate was a rare one back in the day. Like the seats and the steering wheel.

and here are some of the parts before I put them in

All the performance parts and suspension parts on installed, I just need our winter to go away so I can install the exterior parts.

Tell you one thing, you appreciate how much fun the mini is when you own one. But when you get to mod it to the max this car is a completely different beast.

Looks like you have installed quite a pile of tuner bits. Congrats. One comment that I would have based on the image is that I would be careful with the combination of Unichip and hotter cam. Unless you have a map that is designed for that cam, you could be running your car lean and burn motor bits. I've seen it happen several times--fact it was a combination of a cam and 'Shark Injector' which blew up the first R53 motor I ever rebuilt. Ultimately I bought the car and made the original Wildebeest--but that's a story for another day.

I did have the unichip remapped for all of the mods I did not install the cam until it was returned to me remapped, It was originally mapped for smaller pulley, exhaust, intake. I then decided I wanted the CAM so I had it remapped. As well when I put on the smaller pulley I went with colder plugs. It is a good point though! I have seen some crazy mods running and stock ecu... well not for that long any ways. The Cam was the last thing installed and it really pulled all of the mods together..pulls HARD!!

I would prefer a proper tune, but were I live there is no one for miles!!! I don't have a choice but to go with this piggy back setup unfortunately. Obviously a proper ECU and tune would net much better numbers to the ground.
