Helluva 2006 Mini convertible

2006 MINI S convertible chili red and lovin' it. It's only detriment so far is the hideous wheels it came with but changing that as quickly possible. It is fully loaded with only 28K miles and it beautiful condition. I live in Oregon, spring is finally here and eager to enjoy. Great to be on this forum.

Welcome to NAM. We also enjoyed our previous S Convertible for 3+ years, mostly as a 3 season vehicle that was a blast to drive. I hope you enjoy your new spring season, and find some of those great Oregon roads to ride!

Welcome to NAM, Petunia42 and congrats on your new MINI convertible. It's nice to have you with us. I have to agree with you about the wheels, they are awful and totally out of character but what would you change them to? Thanks for the pic and keep them coming, especially once you decide on new wheels.

Happy motoring and please don't forget to promote the MINI wave.

Thank you for the warm welcome

Mr. T,
Want to stay OEM. These may be boring but this is it.

I have a vendor that I worked with somewhere in WI. I would need to get back to you about his information. Their S-lites is at $125/piece. $187 seem a lot for reconditioned wheels.

Those are nice too Astro.
Afraid to make a terrible mistake though and get something I'll regret, because in such a hurry to change these awful wheels. Embarrassing to drive the way it is. The car so perfect, but the wheels scream, "I suck!"

On the R52 I really like the R91s. +1 on the R91's.

Thanks ECSTuning.
So two votes for Star Bullets. Actually five as three adult sons for the Star Bullets too.
No votes for my S-lites yet. Haven't given up on them entirely...

Forgive me but I always thought the those OEM wheel looked like they were dipped in heavy chocolate. My vote is for the R91 Star Bullet 17" Wheel.

Petunia42 - Welcome, hope you can get a wheel type you like. Forgot to show you the black bullets from the R57 launch called the R111 which are very close to the R91's. Gives you another option.

See more installed pics here:

Also the R91 came in white also. Very rare to see.

These give you some options for the R91's , silver might be what you liked based on your a Gen 1 and have black top / chili red.

Thanks and good luck.

Thanks Kathy. Love every color but knew it had to be the chili red for me too. Yours is a beauty.

ECS...not a white or black wheel person, but thanks for the great pictures!

Hate to say it but till leaning towards the S-lites.
Does anyone know if the R108's mulitspoke, would work on a 2006 s?

Welcome,

The R108's Mutiple spokes. Come in a silver and a more dark anthracite ( referred to as black ). They will both fit your R52 Cooper Convertible S

Here's what I dug from my statements... it's www.Wheel-And-Rims.com ; 800-999-8987. out-the-door & shipped pricing was $474.66 for a set of R85 S-Lites.

My vote is the R85's since I am purist and a huge fan of the legendary British Minilites.

I must say that R91 or bullet wheels look awesome, correct for the era and low maintenance from what I can imagine. White, black or silver doesn't matter, still looks great!

Wish you luck and I am sure you will arrive at the right choice. Whenever in doubt, it would not hurt to have a spare set.
