Black Star Bullet Wheels

When I ordered my JCW Coupe, the Black Star Bullet wheels were $0, but now the MINI USA Configurator shows them as $1200! WTF?

The MINI Configurator is (currently) showing that the Black Star Bullet wheels are an additional $1200 for the JCW Hardtop, JCW Convertible and the JCW Clubman, but.... they're still no additional charge when added to the JCW Coupe --- frikkin stupid.

MINI choices allowed in the Configurator, but then not allowed (for other models) are frustrating too. For example I can't get a silver roof on an Eclipse Gray JCW CLUBMAN, but I can get a silver roof on an Eclipse Gray JCW COUPE.

"WTF?" is right.

Yes, if you order the sports package you have several wheel options, but not if you click the JCW box. Makes no sense.

FWIW I just ordered a 2013 JCW HT w/ bullets and the online config added $100. When my MA submitted the build the cost was $0.

The configurator just has too many stupid things you can't do - try building an R56 hardtop in white-silver with cloth seats (the $0 option) - can't do it. Try another color and you can have cloth, and you can also get the R58 in white-silver with cloth. There are many other things like this, that make no sense.

The star bullets were $750 on my 2013 Coupe. Not sure if one of the packages changed the price.

Too late for me; my order is in. I really like the look of them...and hoping that they won't be so tough to keep clean. The brake dust on my last MINI was a bear to keep off!

They look great and they're easy to keep clean. They hide the brake dust well.

^so did you end up paying the extra money for the wheels? I was looking at the black wheels for the JCW coupe, the r112, and it said $100, if I wanted black when they were $0 before if you click on them. Sucks how their just adding up on things that used to be standard options on the JCW. Btw your coupe looks good.

Plus they have that silver/polished edge, so that you can touch these on a kerb (sorry, curb) and it doesn't show too badly, unlike an all-black wheel.

The edge is actually lacquered and I didn't have too much trouble smoothing down a couple of light scrapes with wet&dry paper and touching-in the lacquer on my summer wheels when I took them off.

My excuse is that I switched from a car with 195/55-16s to one with 205/45-17s and the extra wheel width was what caused me a problem judging the width (I live on a street with parallel parking and no driveways).

Black Star Bullet

The wheels look great! Any tips on care or cleaning these? Any particular Griots products. Do's and Don'ts?

I ordered these on my Coupe.
Thanks

I use Meguiar's ultimate detailer to wipe off the brake dust and grime in between washes.

Those wheels look great. They had the origins from the launch on the R52 MINI Convertible in 2005 when they were the Bullets (w/o machines lip edge) and came in Silver Paint and White paint finish , then they brought the newer version which is yours above ( launch on the R57 Convertible ) and does reduce the appearance of brake dust. They have really evolved over time.

Looks better with JCW center caps also.

I remember when they launched the one off " Diesel Brand " MINI and they had the Bullet painted in a copper color. That was different.
