NO REVERSE after replacing Two Valve Bodies
NO REVERSE after replacing Two Valve Bodies
We have paid for two labor bills - $300 dollars in Mini oil and second time we replaced the Valve Body STILL NO REVERSE - REVERSE WORKED FINE WHEN WE BROUGHT IT INTO SHOP - AFTER CHANGE OUT WITH REBUILT VB ALL FORWARD GEARS Worked smooth BUT when put in Reverse the wheels do not spin while up on the lift. NO REVERSE. Valve body rebuild company sent us a second rebuilt VB, no problem - rushed us clips they forgot to include the first time (originally we sent them our MINI VB for rebuild but they said it would not hold pressure so sent us a rebuilt one with same specs (Could be VW??) and they were very responsive. Now everyone -Us, Trans shop Installer, Pro Valve body rebuilder Co are all stumped. Mini Cooper S 05 with 45k miles had reverse ruff shifting when brought in. Oil dark and a little dirty and some small chips in cooler on second change out. (Possible simulated flush from first test drive with no reverse.) We know the first time the wires were put in missing some exterior mini clips that had been left on our first mini vb at the rebuilder. (we had hoped that was the problem) We know the installer is not using a torque wrench just standard wrench. Also he put as much oil in as possible over 4.8 litters possibly. Also he lost picture of original wiring off his phone and the harness plastic clip looked cracked. Some one blogged back on another site that he knew the problem he said the first and third solenoid harness could be switched??? Makes sense that would cause problem, he said easy mistake to make while installing - BUT we do not see how could happen on the mini because the length of the wire harness looks like simply would not allow that on the mini harness (perhaps it would be different on the VW harness) WE TESTED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE WHILE ON LIFT BY DISCONECTING THE HARNESS TO THE VB AND MANUALLY THE CAR WENT INTO REVERSE NO PROBLEM. There are no dash lights showing for electrical issues. Could cable be faulty in wire harness? Mechanic says it is because it is not a new MINI VB (Mini VB $1k more expensive then New VW VB that everyone says is exactly the same.) Rebuilder says if same problem twice - No Reverse it is not the VB - It is the install or something else but not the TRANS if it works when disconected????? Is the ALIGNMENT BOLTS A PROBLEM? OR THE FACT THAT WHILE TESTING THE REVERSE ON THE LIFT THERE MAY BE AN ELECTICAL PROB WITH THE BRAKE WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO ENGAGE IN REVERSE. Please help ASAP - We have 2K plus into it now with oil and all. Car sitting in home garage.
