New MCS owner!!!
New MCS owner!!!
Hey guys
New to the forum and new to minis in general. Just picked up a 2005 MCS (manual) couple of days ago. Very excited about the car
been driving it nonstop, making excuses to go out and drive it around. Very fun to drive.
Have a few quick questions:
1. Wanting to integrate my iPhone 5 to the stock head unit. Saw it has it already but it's for the older iPhones. Want something that plays music and charges the phone. (USB connection)
2. Seems like the stance of my mini is weird. Seems to be lower in the front. Sort of like they installed lowering springs in the front and forgot to do the rear. Is this the normal stance?
Thanks for reading and any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to NAM & congrats on your MINI! First gen S cars are awesome - you have chosen well.
Share some pics when you can; we go ape for MINI pics.
As to your question, it sounds like you have the old 30-pin connector to hook an iPod or iPhone to your factory stereo. I found that this connector will allow music playback, but in and of itself does not charge an iDevice. When I bought my car in '10 I did some Googling and found a connector that does charge my iPod but cannot recall where I got it now.
With an iPhone 5 you'd have to add a Lightning connector to the equation, so you'd have stereo => iDevice connector => charger adapter => lightning adapter => i5. I'm not sure how a daisy chain or sorts would work. I'll try to test it this weekend & reply back.
To your second question, my car does have a slight rake to it: the front sits a hair lower than the rear, giving it a slightly jacked-up look. I'm pretty sure that a slight angle or rake like this is normal, but you might post some side-on pics so we can see the actual angle and others can chime in too.
Happy Motoring!

Hey Friday
I just ordered the aux cable from Sewell. As for the charging, I'm just going to do it the old fashion way with a car charger for now till I can find something better.
Thanks for the reply and let me know if the daisy chain works.
