Newbie Possible R53 buyer... Questions
Aloha from Hawaii!
Well gang, i have been looking for a "new" car. And the Mini Cooper S seemed to be a legit little car. I have a 97 Camry at the moment and it seems like its on its way out. I have a decent amount of money saved, but am planning on taking out a loan. Now I went to go for a test drive of the car. Its a 2005 R53, has about 59k on the clock. The dealer told me they replaced "AC Stuff," timing chain, valve cover gasket, and a few other things. And well it had some things i noticed. First thing, the tire pressure light was on probably not a big deal but its at a dealership, i would assume no lights would be on. Second when i opened the hood, i noticed the PVC pipe had what looked to be RTV on it, is that normal, it looked like a snap connection to me so why RTV? The car started right up no issues, but when i turned on the ac, it seemed like the AC would kick on then off. Is that normal for minis? It also did not seem ice cold like my Camry. Also when i went for a drive i noticed the throttle is not instant kinda seems to wait for a second or so. Thew me off when we left the dealer. i was told its normal and you get use to it. I have driven all types of cars and the electronic throttle seemed laggy, not like my 240z or my Legacy SS, but then again i feel im being bias. The last thing was it has no warranty, but was told i can get one from the Mini dealership for like 3k!!!
I asked what it covered, and what you can mod or do without voiding it, but got no answer.
Sorry for the long first post, i have been trolling around here but, wanted some input because, its alota money and would like to hear from real owners not some guy in a cheap suit. Also here is the link to the car. Also was told the price is set and thats it.
