I had a manual trans in my younger days in my '71 Chevy Camaro SS and '76 Chevelle, and got spoiled with the auto on long daily commutes, and have no burning desire to go back.

But the primary reason: Per my wife: No auto, no MINI. She drives it as much as I will, and doesn't want to manually shift gears. Fortunately, I put 6K miles per year on my Harley when I want to wind through the gears on our rural roads.
Being married, I understand your point about your better half! As for the commute, my 6 speed manual will be painful at times in Route 66 traffic heading into DC. Fortunately, I only drive 12-15 minutes to the Metro. Otherwise, I'm excited to drive a stick again. The automatic in my Fiat 500 rental car has a 'shift' mode and sport button which makes driving a genuine pleasure. I'm envious of your Harley though. It may not get the riding time now that you have that magnificent MINI machine!

That's a beautiful car KennyR! Thanks for posting the pictures. Do you have some of the interior as well?

Chilli Red is a really nice color. We would have ordered it if we didn't want BRG (and I have had two red convertibles before so didn't want a third one just yet!). Happy motoring!

Picked up my 2014 Roadster S "Rojo Calor" this afternoon! Everything went quickly, perfectly, and we were in and out in less than an hour. Mine was the 1st 2014 Roadster S delivered at my dealership.

While the interior and controls are nearly identical to my 2010 MINI S Convertible (trade in), it was nice to see a few changes that improved things along with a few things I learned:

- The digital mph is now continuously displayed in the center tach display, irrespective of what info display you chose with the stalk selector button.

- The gloss Piano Black interior looks great, but shows every smudge and fingerprint, so keep a microfiber cloth nearby.

- There are several small hidden compartments in the boot that I did not know about: 2 in the sides (to access the rear lights), 1 behind the jack/tool compartment. These are good places to store the windscreen, cargo net, and a packable windbreaker.

- Contrary to the info on the 2014 configurator of my MA and sales manager: the Roadster S with automatic and JCW interior, the stitched leather steering wheel does have the paddle shifters, and 2): despite the reduced package price, the JW interior package still contains the JCW door sill graphics. The 2014 MINI configurator really needs some upgrading.

Total time from order to delivery was exactly 7 weeks, and less than 5 weeks from the start of production...all pretty much within a few days of the original estimates.

Here's a few pictures (my 1st time posting pics). Thanks again to all for the fun support on this thread during the waiting period. I'll look forward to seeing my new NAM buddies taking delivery of their new MINIs in the coming weeks! Best wishes.

We took delivery of our paceman last night but too busy to get the photos off the camera. Maybe tonight. The dealer may be posting some on facebook because they loved the fact that we had two minis 10 years apart

Not a lot new to report.

I Heard today the my MINI is in the "Body Shop" due to finish build Sept. 14.

No further info... Except Just as T Dave forecasted. Hurricane Humberto is crusing the Altantic in search of cargo ships filled with MINI's.

Congratulations to everyone who have received their MINI, The Pictures are great and help keep spirits up.

Keep the pictures coming.
Thanks

This is a busy time for hurricane season. I went to college and lived along the Florida Gulf Coast for years. We take this stuff seriously. Lady Luck, be with us!

Just a few days shy of months since I placed the order I took delivery of my CM. I got one picture when I stopped at a gas station, it's not the most flattering shot but you get the idea. It's been raining all day to I haven't been able to get better photos, but as soon as I do I'll post them.

I had one of the longer waits between order and delivery so I know that the wait can drive you crazy but hang in there guys, it's well worth it.

I wonder why it took yours so long. In any event, you picked out a very nice MINI - I love the black/red color combination. Drive safe and wave at the rest of us.

USF ('80) graduate myself! Go Bulls! I love the Florida Gulf Coast. The area between Clearwater and St. Pete is more calm, sedate, etc., than other areas in Pinellas County. Next summer, we're buying a place 5 minutes from the beach (by MINI) somewhere in the vicinity of Seminole. Prices are much better there than the DC metro area, trust me! I've got a typical 5 bedroom colonial in Northern Virginia on a quarter acre - I'll likely get $650,000 or so based on current sales data. I paid $250,000 for the house 20 years ago. We still haven't recovered fully from the downturn. My neighbor paid $720,00 for the identical house a couple years ago. I have a nicer house with more options, i.e., three fireplaces, extra windows, wood floors, but I seriously doubt I can sell at the same price next year.

As for my Roadster, I can only hope I get lucky with the MINI timetable. Hiting the docks at the right time, getting a direct ship to Baltimore, small delay at the Baltimore VDC - you know the drill. An MA who regularly posts at NAM realistically believes I should get my Roadster before month's end. God, I hope so! My Fiat 500 rental lease expires on October 5th!

I hope we are on the same quick ship, my friend!

My salesman didn't even have this info. I took my vin to the shipping company's site and tracked it that way. Have you tried that?

Now I feel like I have a better grasp on what's going on. Doesn't make the time go by faster though.

Yea I was in the same situation. My MA didn't know either ... I had been punching my VIN in over at the WW website and it finally populated the information. Now you can go here http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/dat...a=A&level0=200 and punch your ship name in the search and watch it cross the ocean. Of course you can only see it when its in range but still very cool system.

To help all of you who are waiting for your MINI feel a little better, here's an article from yesterday's Time magazine science section on the surprising lack of Atlantic hurricanes this season...today (9/10) is the exact midpoint of the season, and there hasn't been a hurricane so far...

rs: Here's a few pictures of the JCW interior you asked for.

Todays tasks: hard wired my Escort radar detector to the windshield next to the mirror, replaced the stock radio antenna with a Craven stubby one, and plugged my Sprint Booster (from my prior MINI) into the gas pedal wiring which dramatically improves throttle responsiveness.

Glad you're enjoying tracking your MINI...you get the award for most detailed itinerary! The wait seems shorter when you can watch the ship moving across the ocean (except when it isn't tracked >100 miles from the coast). Less than 2 weeks until it's at the NJ VDC!

The beast is in the paint shop, with a scheduled completion date of 16 September. I wonder how fast it can get down to the docks in Southampton?

I have a few more photos. I'm still waiting for my blackout head and tail light rings to come in. I think they will be here by next weekend.

I was curious about the the black checkered interior surface since my dealer didn't have one to show me before I ordered, but I really like how it turned out.

When I placed my order back in June the system wouldn't allow for the JCW Interior Package with the Red Lounge Leather Seats to be added. So instead I had them toss in the JCW shift know with the red stitching for at least a little splash of color in the interior. It's a subtle but nice addition.

Also, I'm not sure if my driving lights are working correctly. Does anybody know if the switch to turn them on is located on the lower dash to the left of the steering column? There is a switch there that lights up green when I push it but the lights don't seem to turn on.

This was my build.

All4 CMS

Blazing Red / Black

Fully Loaded Package

Driving Lights

Black Headlights, Black Color Line & Interior Color, Black Checkered Interior Surface

Lounge Leather

Heated Seats

Anthracite Headliner

JCW Shift ****

Roof Rack

The factory driving lights only come on with the high beams on

ASK MINI rep said my Roadster is in "assembly", the final production phase, ready to move on September 13th. You may catch up at the docks.
