I should get my 2006 R50 in about a week. I am rewarding myself for putting my wife through graduate school for six years, working 3 jobs plus recycling scrap metal and selling my blood plasma twice per week. Wifey graduated and has a new job as a Pastor. I sold my 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 - good riddance. I just drove the S and the R50. Loved the R50 for the combo of gas mileage peppy performance. This is a nice alternative to the 1st Gen. Mazda RX7s I love so much (had three). The performance is a tad better, gas mileage almost two times better, and I suspect the piston engine will last longer than the rotaries. AND, two rear seats for my kids, when necessary. The R50 had the same go kart feel as the rx7, even with front wheel drive. I could not stop smiling while test driving an R50 which had over 130,000 miles on it. Mine has 43,000 miles. Still have an IH Scout II for the off roader in me.

Welcome to NAM and congrats on your new MINI. It sounds like a great deal of sacrifice but all well worth it. Happy motoring and don't forget to wave. I almost forgot, where are the pics.

Here is a pic of the MINI, I expect delivery around Aug 4. I chose the Royal metallic grey because it is subdued and does not draw a lot of attention. The way I drive I need to blend in as much as possible. Am I to understand that there is a MINI wave? When I drove Jeep Wranglers and CJs they would wave to each other, is this a MINI thing too?

Yep, MINIs have waves! I also had a wrangler and enjoyed the waves. I only get vehicles that have waves included

Got it! It is a lot of fun. I have been driving before and after work, even during lunch break, zipping all over the place, and the fuel gauge hardly budged. Quite a change from the Ram's 12.6 mpg and the Scout's 11 mpg. Cornering and braking are amazing. Here's another pic, it's the one on the right.

Very nice MINI meyerside and I like your choice of color... It is unique as you don't see to many MINIs in Royal Grey.

Thanks for posting up those pics!

Keep on motoring!

Thanks guys. I had to have the royal grey once I saw it. Second choice was BRG. I got my build sheet from the original dealer, it came with silver bonnet stripes, but must have been removed which is preferable to me, again, to draw less attention to myself since my spirited driving does that enough.
