Seeking advice from Denver

I'm moving to Denver and looking for a Cooper S. The local dealer site seems to only carry cars with a "cold climate package"? Are there certain options that are necessary for the winters in Denver? AZ and CA don't have a lot of heated seat cars for sale- would most mini owners be uncomfortable in Denver without heated seats or other must have options?

MINI heated seats are the best, especially if you are a skier. Great way to "soften" the back muscles after a day of skiing. Otherwise, they just great on a cold morning, especially for those short trips where the engine doesn't warm up all of the way. The heated mirrors and windshield washers are nice. All of these are part of that package. I find the seats stay cold without it. The DTC option would be good too. Also, look at getting a second set of wheels and snows.

Overall the MINI is a good winter car...Enjoy.

I live in Northern Maine and absolutely love my heated seats! When I picked up the Mini I thought it was an over the top option, but man are they great on a minus degree morning!

get the heated seats! warm buns in seconds on a cold day is wonderful

mine has 3 settings, warm, hot and keep the pizza hot on the way home!

in fact get the cold weather package, the heated outside mirrors work great too

I first thought heated seats were unnecessary until I found my MCS with them already installed. I nearly always have mine on now, especially when waiting for the car to heat up. Plus. they're great for back aches and cramps. I would definitely recommend them for Denver winters.

Thanks for the replies from the cold weather states! sounds like the cold weather options, while not necessary, are totally appreciated, especially the seats.

I appreciate my seat heaters here in South Texas, even though they only get used a few days a year.

Love heated seats here. Every I own has them. (2000 BMW Z3 2.3, 2012 BMW 128i and 2013 MINI Cooper R56)

I appreciate the seats and washers but the heated mirrors aren't a huge deal IME. I dunno if I used the feature ten times in the 8.5 years that I owned my VW. On the other hand, I do like the power fold feature.

Necessary, no. But I highly recommend it for anyone who lives in a climate with a real winter. Aside from the heated seats, the cold weather package also includes heated windshield washer nozzles and heated side mirrors. When the weather is awful these little things make a big difference. The headlight washers don't hurt either, especially in areas that salt the roads.

Others have mentioned the heated seats and I concur, they're great. Heats all the way up your back, and heats up fast and hot; I run mine on low because high is too much.

In summary, the heated seats are nice but the rest are as much safety items as conveniences.
