Is adding the HK amp an easy plug and play?
Is adding the HK amp an easy plug and play?
I am trying to upgrade my sound in a 2006 cooper s with stock head unit stereo and speakers.
Thought a used Harman Kardon amp and speakers are the way to go since they are 'configured' for the mini. Is the wiring all there and I just change out the speakers and plug in the amp or is it complicated?
Any one have the wiring diagram for this R53?

Nope...pretty involved...a full gut and rewire.
The factory amp uses speaker level inputs to the amp...
The wires musr be run from the amp...
Impedance of hk speakers are different than stock....and if i remember right, the doors have different interiors to allow the tweaters to be a the hk spot.....so better to go aftermarket. Hk amps do have a reputation for burnng out and going bad......

I had a 10" subwoofer, amp, wiring, and new head unit installed and tuned for $800 out the door early this year. One of my favorite mods. Not only does it sound 10x better, but I also have the added benefits of AUX in, USB front and rear, Bluetooth, and a vastly improved equalizer. The only downside is no more boot space
