We have a 2002 Mini Cooper Red Velvet that has a decal on driver side of the hood that says "special". We can not seem to find any info as to what that means. We have not seen it on any other MC. Does anybody know what it means? Thanks!

That color was a limited run color option, pretty rare to see.

Of all the places they could have put that badge, that sure was an odd choice.

If nobody here can answer, MINI USA sure should.

And hey, maybe the badge itself is what makes it special.

 

PS. I do not believe the color is why it carries that badge. I've see other Coopers in that color and they did not have the badge.

 

I checked in with our purchasing agent, who has access to MINI's Electronic Parts Catalog. He doesn't see it, he recommends that perhaps it was placed by the dealership or someone else besides the factory.
