New Mini for Me! coming from 911TT

Hey everybody !

I haven't been this excited to own a car in a while. I picked up a daily driver 2011 Cooper S in pepper white from a used car dealer in austin two days ago for my bday.

Its go the pano roof, xenons, convenience package, 6 speed, 17" black wheels and HK sound. Sharp little motor and all for 22k.

As the title mentions, I am abandoning a 760rwhp 996TT 6 speed as my previous "daily". That car ran 207 in the texas mile and was one of the most powerful stock block 996's in the world. I would have to say the mini is almost as fun! in some ways even more! The Mini's point and squirt nature make it such a fun motor allowing you to use the entire tach in nearly every gear.

What i'm fighting with is that the day i was driving it home, some motorcycle jerk yelled in my window "hey you're driving a girls car!" - i found it offensive obviously, since my previous cars, (911, M3, Escalade, RR Sport) and my other cars (72 cheyenne, 63 impala) never drew that kind of attention. I know its a sorta rediculous, but my ego is still adjusting to the cuteness. Any advice?

-a

I get that crap all the time...."your car is cute"....some people are just *******s. I just wave and say "thank you" to them, and most of the time they are so confused by your response they don't have anything else to say.
The bottom line, like you said, these cars are a blast to drive...period.
Enjoy it!!

I'm working on blacking out all the chrome right now. So far I've put in the jcw grille painted my mirror caps and painted my gas cap. Only big stuff I new now is the chrome trim around the headlights and maybe the door handles

Shhhhhh.....Don't let them in on the secret of how really incredible they are to drive, everyone will want one.

Besides, that type of comment says more about them as a person then you because of what you drive.

I have a 997 as a daily driver and I'm getting a Cooper S so I can save some miles on it. I've had Mini's before and wouldn't even consider it if they weren't fun. I always felt more cool in the Mini when I drove it somehow! Less middle aged?

Screw what the odd uneducated person thinks. They are classless, fun and a modern classic

Don't worry about the d-bags. They have issues all their own.

Most times I get questions like "Is it fun to drive?" or comments like "Nice car - I've always wanted one" (mostly from men).

I'm a spirited driver, and more than one person has pulled up next to me at a light, rolled down their window and commented on the unexpected giddyup my MINI exhibits.

Plenty more urbane responses here than my first inclinations, all which would have tended to escalate the situation.

<in general> Dumba$$, it's not even in the top 10 of women-preferred autos (LA Times article)
<Dude on Harley> Really? No, I don't need a phallic compensator like you
<Dude on metric twin> Really? From you, on a wannabe Harley?
<Dude on sport bike> Really? No, I don't need a *plastic* phallic compensator like you
<Just out of kickboxing class> When I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you

LOL! I just respond, "Yeah, but my side folding stocked, tactical long range rifles fit in the back, with room for my body armor too, so its not too girly".

Something to keep in mind is that police typically do not look to the Mini when they're in the mood to write tickets.

No one ever suspects the Mini...

Vmaxx coil overs are good but if you spend a little more you can get a much better setup... Check the 2nd Gen forums for information of various brands.
