First-time mini owner, R53
I finally got around to making my "welcome thread" after about 6 months of owning my first Mini.
I would like to firstly thank all members on this forum, you all have saved me HOURS in figuring out how these little bastards are put together.
THANKS!
It's an 02 MCS, bought it with about 98k miles and a few nice mods came with it.
Came with Tein springs
JCW polished aluminum strut bar (which is now in pieces!
)
Alta drop-in filter (have ordered the stock filter as this one was filthy, oily and I don't have much confidence for the oily drop-in "upgrade" filters
WMW 15% pulley
and some sort of sport clutch ?
As seen in the pics, I've been slowly tweaking the car.
I would have gone at it at a faster pace, but it took me 5 months to sell my previous car :( an 03 Infiniti G35 Sedan (too boring, and auto-tragic)
so far I have done:
stainless brake lines
new solid rotors
Hawk HPS pads
peeled off the white stripes
painted the mirrors with black plasti-dip
blacked out the chrome grill
red-out the taillights (they were looking quite dated)
edit: Almost forgot about interior, blacked out misc interior trim, door panels, new faux-suade shift boot, 8-ball shift ****.
Currently in the process of installing a new headliner (am using a sweatshirt type material cuz i liked the texture/color)
Also in the process of tinting the windows, only have the sunroof panels and rear panels done now
Just ordered a few hundred $ in maintenance parts (gaskets, plugs, etc.) and will be doing the belt, sc oil change, pan gasket, valve cover gasket, crank position sensor o-ring, etc. etc.)

If you want to drop I the extra money, I would suggest getting a new/rebuilt supercharger and a new waterpump instead of just doing the oil. Especially what has been done to the car and if you continue to mod it at that mileage.
Make sure you check your engine mounts (upper, lower, and transmission) also.
And get some power flex bushings for the front control arms. They usually go out at around 80K miles.
If you haven't already, check out waymotorworks.com. They have a fair prices and extensive selection of parts.
What part of PA are you in?

Nice MCS you got there! I am also a first-time owner and have had my 05 just over a year. Loved the car since I got it even with the issues that came with it. I'll post an image as soon as I have access to my computer!
Yea I never thought I would own one, they were too "cute" but after driving one at a dealer just for fun, I ended up buying it.
I did tear into the front end of it this weekend and made a long list of things to buy, rear top engine mount has a tear in it, the front looks new and the PO mentioned replacing it not too long ago.
I don't plan on modding the motor at all, just sticking with the 15% that the PO put in. I'm well aware of the potential spinning time bomb under the hood so I will MAYBE look at a rebuilt sc if I think I'll even keep the car long enough.
I have a tendency to switch cars every 18 months or so.
Just in the last 3 years I've owned a Lexus gs400, 1987 325is BMW, 04 GTO, 03 Infiniti g35, now this lol
