What Color to Get!!!!!!

I'm looking at an Ice Blue Mini S with Black roof, mirrors and wheels. I have not seen one in person so I am afraid it may look to feminine. What do you guys think?

When I was trying to decide in color, I just did google image searches for the combinations and found tons of pictures. That helped me a lot.

Yeah, the colors shown during an online "build" don't always show very accurately. I usually choose Ice Blue when building a MC, and Eclipse Gray (not offered on the MC) when building a MCS. Ice blue doesn't bother me at all, but pink might. If you feel you need a more manly color, try black; including wheels.

To get a slightly more accurate a view of a color, I use the photos of the cars in that color that are posted online in a dealer's new car inventory. That won't help if the dealer uses "file photos" from MINI instead of photos the dealer took of the actual car.

Better yet is seeing the color on a car in person.

The best way to check out the color is in person. But whatever you do get what you like, not what other people like. Happy hunting.

Sounds like you've got your doubts about Ice Blue. Not sure what a "feminine" color might be but think of it this way, if you have your doubts before you even get it, what will happen if someone jokes about your "girlie" car. Remember, the word "cute" is often used to discribe the Mini.

A feminine color would be like mauve, taupe, coral, or teal; colors that males don't even know the names of. Perhaps the result of little boys getting the 12-crayon box and little girls getting the 48-crayon box. I had to swipe my sister's crayons to learn those names. Ice blue wasn't in there.

My mother has an ice blue, with white top, and white stipes. Its a nice looking car, very classic looking color that fits the car well, I wouldn't say girlie.

Thanks for the input. The local dealer has no Ice Blue cars in stock. In the build section, the Ice Blue with Black top and mirrors and block wheels looks pretty tough. No strips for me however. Someone use to say I drove a girls car with my Miata. Up until I blew them away with a 165 RWHP supercharged one.

When I hear the term "ice blue," I get a mental flash of one of those Beetles in that color (or, very similar--I don't know their name for it). Granted, the VW isn't the same car, but...what goes through your mind when you see one of those?

(If this sounds ridiculous, so be it.)

--a fellow newcomer, also trying to build, with all options settled on except the freakin' color.

Ice Blue? Glad you asked: it's the finest color of all!

Yes, ice blue, not "baby blue". Iconic 60's color, Iris Blue for BL cars, Zenith Blue for VWs are quite similar.

You won't see yourself coming and going. MINI STL had a couple in stock when I bought mine, the online guide doesn't do it justice. And it's a color that comes across differently on a cloudy day versus full sun, which is kind of interesting. Fairly easy to keep clean / looking good.

You'll hear some of the girl / ghey car cr@p about these no matter the color. You're Miata-experienced so the same tactics apply.

Recent photo set here (bright, sunny day version):

Chili Red is generally accepted as the fastest MINI color.

A mcs with that exact color combo passes me everyday on our way to work. Very good looking in person, would easily be my second choice.

Personally I like the White Silver/Cherry red top, Lighting Blue/Black top, Midnight Black/Cherry Red top, White Silver/Black top. Check those out!

I wouldn't call it feminine, but they do have nice butts

and terrific front racks

All in all a very nice package!

Wish they offered the JCW in Ice Blue, although I do like the White Silver/Cherry Red top and mirrors too.

Try to find an Ice Blue to spy in person. I liked it even more once I found a dealer the had one. It is very close to the classic Gulf Oil Light Blue race car color sans the Orange stripe.

Yes, it is a empirically proven fact that Chili Red MINIs are the fastest!

I saw an ice blue this morning, with a white top. Have to say, it really looked nice. And even better, the dude driving gave me a wave. I felt the love.

On the way back from lunch, I passed an Ice Blue/Black MINI. WOW, looked sharp, same effect as the Pepper White/Black. Looked particularly good with the black arches and black wheels. And I don't particularly care for Ice Blue in general.
