New here and ordering soon...
Hello all, and greetings from Baltimore!
I'm new here, about to order an S coupe, and have only one dilemma, which after lurking here I see is a common problem: I know everything I want except the color. I've been driving an Acura TSX since it was born in late 2004, love it, very little trouble, but it's approaching 100K miles and I'm ready for something small and awesome. My 3 requirements: manual, nav, and loving the looks. This has limited me to very few choices and I fell in love with the coupe while researching (ex: BRZ, Veloster, Fiat). It wasn't a hard decision once I'd seen/driven the Mini.
I'm a pretty simple driver in that I'm not interested in the mods--hope that doesn't make me a party pooper around here.
You guys are cracking me up all over the forums, I'm really having a good time reading the snark; not too harsh, and always funny. I am also really enjoying learning about MTTS and MOTD, and am definitely interested in taking part in 2013. (Ummm...assuming I can settle on a color before next summer.)
I actually am going to decide soon and should be a proud owner around October. My questions for the most part are being answered as I peruse the boards, and hopefully I won't embarrass myself by not searching thoroughly enough.
Thanks for reading!

I had the same dilemma when it came time to select a color. I went from red to silver to white and back to red and then white, oh the horror!
I opted for red because when I built it on line, with black wheels, trim, etc I knew it was for me.
Now, as for features, I'm not big on the performance options. I did my test drive in an "S" coupe and liked it a lot. It really has all the features you'd want and adding auto A/C, Sirius and the convenience start wouldn't cost very much. The Nav is integrated into the center speedometer and is something like $1,500.00 -- ouch!
I saw a red coupe with black roof and contrasting red/black stripes -- looked awesome!
Have fun with your quest!

Many people leave their car stock so you are most certainly not a party pooper...after all you are a future MINI owner so you can't be a party pooper!
As for color...That can be the hardest part.
MTTS happens every two years so expect it to come back in 2014. As for MOTD, that is in May every year. You are a bit closer to it than I was, I went this past year, but the drive is totally worth it!

Thanks for the warm welcoming! Much appreciated.
One more question. On the configurator, there are 2 separate options for stripes. One is $250 (Design/Exterior Details) and has body color on the roof. The other is $95 (Accessories/Graphics) and has no striping on the roof. I mentioned it to the dealership and they said there is no not-roof choice. Is this a mistake on the site or a goof by my MA?
After all the reading around here and from additional advice IRL, I think I'm going to skip the runflats. Trying to figure out if I really "need" auto A/C. I'm thinking of getting the Xenons but *not* the Adaptives--just not seeing enough excitement about them. (I could possibly be convinced, though.) The coupes on the lot here (Baltimore) have "sport antenna" written on the sticker as an option but I see lots of you doing it yourselves afterwards. I take it that's a price thing? Those few things are the only ones I'm still waffling about.
As for progress in my color choice, it's definitely awesome being able to look on here (and Facebook) at actual photos. Those quasi-cartoons in the configurator are not helpful. I might as well just get a Magic Eight Ball.
And thanks JohnW94 for the headsup on MTTS being every other year!

When I was ready to pull the trigger on getting my MINI I had already picked out all the options I wanted including Laser Blue for the color. Unfortunately for me, MINI decided to discontinue the color in the spring and didn't bring it back. Also, my dealership misinformed me and I ended up getting a 2013 instead of a late model 2012.
I can't be too upset though because Lightning Blue was the first color I wanted when I started looking at MINIs a couple of years back and with the package changes they made to MY13, I ended up saving $1500 on what I wanted.
There were about half a dozen color combinations that I could have seen myself ordering but ultimately I went with my first instinct(even if MINI forced me into it!) and went with Lightning Blue with a white roof and white bonnet stripes. The next few weeks until Edgar makes it home is going to be excruciating but it's been a hell of a ride so far.
Welcome to the NAM family!

Thanks Andrew--nice to see that people are naming their babies "in the womb," as it were. I'm already down to 2 names and I don't even know what the exterior paint will be. Ridiculous.
I'm still pretty curious about my stripe question from above, if anyone has heard about this? I'll ask some other dealerships today and post back (in case anyone cares
