2004 MINI Cooper as my very first car

I guess I just wanted to say hello, I'm finalizing the deal on a 2004 Mini Cooper on Monday. I'm 21 and it's going to be my very first own car! So far I've been borrowing my dad's 2007 Audi A6 all the time.

Anyway, I'm super excited although I'm not a big fan of the color It's a light blue metallic which is pretty girly and which I think wasn't available in the US back in 2004 (I'm from Poland). But I decided to go with this particular car because it's in really good, clean shape. Here in Poland, there are tons of salvage cars with rolled-back odometers that dealers try to pass off as clean title, low-mileage vehicles. I'm buying the MINI from a fellow dealer, it was checked by a trusted mechanic, I had it's VIN checked too, I test drove it and it really appears to be in great shape

I want to improve its looks by getting new rims and Plasti Dipping them to match the roof and rearview mirrors. Current narrow, 15-inch wheels are going to make a perfect winter set. I really want to go 17" but I'm put off by the cost of getting new tires. I'm a med school student, I don't have time for a job haha! Anyway, I guess I should stop ranting and maybe start a thread in a dedicated forum

Can't ask for much more for a first car unless you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth... even in it is a girly shade if blue. Ha. My first car was a 74 Mercury Capri. Blech!

How is your English perfect? Good schooling or are you originally a Westerner?

Happy and Safe Motoring!

I'm really happy to get such a great first car. As for my English, thanks CR&PW&JB, I am humbled by your words! I was born and raised in Poland, my parents have always placed an emphasis on education and hard work. I had to take a lot of after-school classes and study hard but it has definitely paid off.

Yes, I'd say it has. I would have bet you are a transplanted American, that's how good your English is.

Have any photos of your MINI to share with us yet?

Here is your answer... Sadly most Europeans speak better English than Americans and that is as their second language.

We are falling behind in education in this country.

As for your new MINI, congrats and welcome to the fold. I have had my 06 since late 05 and have no desire to get a new car. You are going to love it!

I think you'll find the color is "Electric Blue" which many of us here find to be an awesome and much missed color. There are at least one and possibly more threads dedicated to those of us/you who love the color. Here in the states it was offered only on the "S" model, not the R50/base model. In other parts of the world you could get it on any model. Enjoy the color- it's a real standout!

Agreed - great color. Unless it's pink or purple, I don't know of anyone who considers certain colors to be gender specific.

Thanks for all the replies!

I had to take care of registration and insurance stuff yesterday, so I only managed to snap a quick picture of the MINI before taking it to car wash. I was planning on doing a full photo shoot today but it's postponed until the weather clears.

Indeed, the color is called "Electric blue" and I have grown to love it already!

Yep, great color ! And looks like that gorgeous paint has been well taken care of, too.

I always liked it with a white roof and white stripes but a pair if black bonnet stripes on that MINI would also look great.

Thanks for the pic !
