new to the group with a problem

Hi everyone!
I am posting for the first time - yes, I am a newbie. My wife and I took proud ownership of our 2012 Countryman All 4 (white with black roof) the first week of April. My wife is the primary driver, she has never taken such a "liking" to any car - we added the "black jack" to the sunroof and the mirrors. we both really like this car.
All has been great until today. The yellow check engine soon light came on while she was shopping. The power didn't seem to drop off - the light came on as she was pulling into a parking lot so it was not driven at all after coming on. She texted me the picture of the yellow engine symbol on the dash. I called the dealer and was told to have it towed to them so it could be diagnosed. The roadside assistance people sent the tow truck and off it went to the Dr.
Any thoughts from fellow Countryman owners who have had this light come on?
Thanks again

check engine light can be anything from a loose gas cap to serious engine damage. Most likely on a new car it will be something simple and the dealer will take car of it quickly and get you back on the road in short order.
