Same here. The waiting will be well worth it.

Yep.... 16 days. I'm betting if you were on your 6th MINI, you could handle the wait.

That might be true...but the MINI law of physics says no one should wait more then 5 days.. other wise the MINI may not feel like it has a home... sad MINI = poor performance and many troubles.. :( I hope you have been visiting it daily..or it may be already to late! bah ha ha

Too far to visit daily, but I've seen it so that helps with the wait.

If I only had floor mats installed, it would be another story. And if MINI Graphics hadn't f'd up the stripes, I would have had it a week ago. But painted brake duct inlets, full bonnet - mirror caps - rear bumper clear bra, and the stripes... there you go, 16 days.

Yep, just a few more hours. And you know, a few months from now, let alone a few years from now, I'll not really think much about the 16 days at the dealership. It'll be the last thing on my mind as I'm enjoying the 208 horses, the crispness of the HK stereo and the POP POP BURBLE BURBLE of the exhaust.

And besides, after 52 years, I've been through enough in life not to sweat the small stuff. And an extra week tacked on to get my MINI... yeah, that's small stuff.

Yep, not going into my own personal hardships but I was stationed in OK City when Tim McVey decided to blow up the Murrah Federal Building and I volunteered to assist in the recovery efforts and I was picking up pieces of flesh and shards of bone with tweezers. Very likely a lot of those were pieces of children who just hours before were playing happily in the child care center in that building.

So yeah... whenever something stresses me out... doesn't take long to snap back to reality and realize most everything in life is small stuff. Most of us only get dealt "big stuff" a handful of times in our lives.

Jesus CR, I seriously need a new mental image after reading that. I'm so sorry that anyone had to be tasked with what you volunteered to do. God Bless You!!

Yep... I like those, have had them in most of our MINIs. I ordered them this time for front, rear, and the boot mat. Can't beat them for durability and they look nice too. Haven't decided if I wont to put some nice, carpet mats, like the Cosmopolitan mats for the front during good weather months.

What mats do you have in yours ?

You know, SG... it's one of those things that if you knew beforehand what it was going to be like, you wouldn't have volunteered for it.

Sort of like the time I got a ride in the back seat of an F-16 fighter jet. If I had known.... holy ****, that jet f'd me up! Glad I was one of the few lucky ones that got that opportunity but never again would you get me in one of those things

Oh, the G forces are serious in the F-16 but you wear a flight suit that pumps air into pockets in the lower part of the suit that forces the blood back to your head so you don't pass out. I thought that was awesome ! That part that made me sick was all the barrel rolls and turning on a dime while flying at around 800 mph. The one hour sortie was so rough on me, I busted blood vessels on my eyes and looked like satan for the next two weeks. And I had nosebleeds every day for 5 days afterwards. Damn thing is literally a rocket ship with wings.

I have an inherent distrust of fixed-wing aircraft.

My stripe saga continues...so these green mirrors that MINI sells (and possibly has for at least a year), well no one knows what the color code is. What I expected to be a simple question has now made it's way through local and regional management and is now residing in someone's inbox in Germany. How is it that no one knows what color "Alien Green" is (or any of the other Ray Line mirrors for that matter)? How is it that I'm the first person to ask this question?

I'll give my MA and dealership credit for pursuing my question this far.

Mini Motoring Graphics thinks they might have an answer for me on Monday, so we'll see who wins.

Last option, which in hindsight would have been the faster, less stressful, easier solution would have been to get the vinyl guy to give me the color code for what he has available and then just paint the mirrors that color. Oh well! Might as well stay the course...for now. Hoping to take delivery next weekend pending a resolution, one way or anther.

You prefer hueys ? Yikes, those things scare the hell out of me ! Rode in a CH-53 once and it had me saying my Hail Mary's and I'm not even Catholic.

I know you are, SG, and I really appreciate it too. I'll let it warm up while my MA is going over the HK stereo and other stuff with me and when he least expects it, I'll rev it up to 4500 and let it down so Vincent gives him a big ol' POP ! Yep, will post pics ASAP.

Oy... I have no confidence in MINI Graphics after my mini-fiasco (pun intended). Good luck, your CM is going to look awesome when you get the stripes/mirror thing worked out !!

Just going to make it that much sweeter when it all comes together and if it happens after I take delivery, then it'll be like I get a new car all over again!

CR - I hope tomorrow bring perfect weather and light traffic; don't forget to take the back roads home! Can't wait for pics!

Guess you won't be coming to the dealership now, since you're holding tight to hear from MINI Graphics. But yes, pics to come soon, I assure you. Maybe more than you care to see.

Oh yeah, sometimes the anticipation of your MINI coming together as you imagine it is nearly as much fun as seeing the finished project. ALMOST.

Oh yeah, for to mention this: my MA said the vinyl guy tried to get a larger sample of for me and the distributor told him that he'd have to order a 3'x40' "sample" (other people might call that a roll). Seriously? That guy should get a new distributor.
