"Those waiting for a 2013" Support Group

Just based on the law of percentages and this board is full of younger people... must be, considering how many of them like to black out all their chrome.

Chrome is retro, keep it!! I don't get the black out thing. Just like center speedo is retro, keep it.
Going to be getting rid of all the chrome, or just the headlight rings ?
agreed... then again, I'd still love the chance to own a classic some day too..
I always feel sad for cars that are just "commuter driven" and not taken care of... where is the respect and dignity of the beautiful art that is MINI?

Geez... just occurred to me just how much posting I've done on this board. This thread has 367 pages now. And I've made 2,000 more posts than this thread contains.
Considering I was away from the board for a couple of years too... damn, I talk a lot.

Yeah... but some cars are made just to be commuter cars, nothing special about them. Still, can't understand anyone not taking the time to take care of their car. If they don't like it enough to take care of it why in the world did they buy it in the first place. Even if you bought it for practical reasons, you couldn't find a practical car you actually liked ?

It seems many of my contemporaries don't have that American Dream of owning a car and taking care of it like I grew up with (with my Dad)
I swear I'm one of a handful that are out washing and detailing the cars. Heck, I'm probably one of the few in the neighborhood that just decides its a nice day to drive, and just go...
I've never owned a car that was "status quo" except for my first car that was handed down to me (89 Camry) then I had a supercharged Mercury Sable Interceptor (from my Dad's Shop), next, got a Fiero and Montero Rally at the same time, then a Honda Element, then a R53 MINI, got a 4 door Wrangler for work then a Prius (for the family) and now a Countryman.
The Camry, Sable and Montero may have been the closest to "normal commuters" but each one I Mod'ed and babied/took care of.
Yep, agree.
I got my passion for cars from my Dad. He and his brothers used to modify cars for drag racing. One of them still has the 64 Ford Fairlane they used to race back in the 60s. Never picked up my fathers mechanical expertise but I do have a thing for nice cars. Even when I couldn't afford "nice" cars, I bought sporty cars (Mustang, T-bird Turbo Coupe, Acura Integra, Nissan 240SX).

Most likely just headlight and taillight rings. I'm not really a into the modding cars (although that's mostly because I've never had a car worth the extra love).
Watch out for the Mod Bug. It's easy to catch it on these cars, there are so many mods available... you see someone post about a cool mod, you want it. You see another, have to have it. Another one, can't live without that one. Oh, just one more.

Oh, you kids! I wonder if NAM knows how many of us old farts are hanging around here ...
I don't know about you, but the older I get, the faster I was!
