I have patience probably because I have other MINIs to drive. But I don't have THAT much patience.

I'll probably get it anyway and bring it back for the stripes, unless they can get the stripes in a day or two.

Will very likely get the MINI as I planned tomorrow unless he says he can have stripes put on Monday or Tuesday. It's a hour and 20 minute drive so don't want to have to make a couple trips if I don't have to.

Now if he says it will be at least three days or longer... yeah, I'm not leaving it there that long.

CR, sorry to hear about the stripes. Even the best laid plans can go astray. I'm heading to Baltimore on Monday to see how close the my green stripes are to my green mirrors. Hopefully it's a close as my MA says it is and I don't have to adjust my plans a week out.

Who is making your green stripes ? Does MINI offer them to match the mirror caps or are they custom made ?

When you stop in, say hello to my MINI for me. Yep, leaving it there. Just got off the phone with my MA, says he will have them this week. Not sure which day, so just decided to leave it there and get it next weekend instead. Besides, when I get my MINI, I want it to look like I envisioned it. I already lost my custom painted wheels... don't want to pick it up NEKKED too.

 

Damn, go pick Vincent up and enjoy driving her for a few days.

 

Tempting but no... want to do it right and enjoy the moment to the fullest and picking it up not as I envisioned it (yes, the stripes are a big deal to me) would take away from the moment.

I'll just look at as saving miles to keep the value up.

The guy that does the clear bra also does vinyl stripes. I was told that they were extremely close, but not 100%. My MA said that it'd be almost impossible to see the difference because the greens are right next to each other, but I'll be the judge of that. Also found a local place that will paint the brake ducts for under $100, assuming I can get a color code for the green mirrors.

Was wondering if I was going to get to see it before the official reveal...will keep an eye out as well as looking for those painted wheels.

Yeah, same guy is going to make my CR stripes now. They don't trust MINI Graphics to make them again. How MINI Graphics can not make a color match for a color that MINI has been using for 50 years is beyond me. And my MA.

Yeah, that sample wheel should be in clear view once you peer over the parts counter. Not to be confused with the 15 inch wheel they have painted same colors... the 17 inch Bullet Stars.

Still want to get my wheels painted but not until their vendor figures out the right paint mix to make the final product look like chili red.

 

I'm not happy about it, mind you. But I'll be glad I waited come this time next week.

 

Bummer on the stripes, but I certainly understand your wanting to have it right the first time (now that I'm going to have the hood wrap redone for the second time)!

BTW, there are alternatives to stripes, you know.

 

I'm just trying to put myself in your shoes. You are a more patient man than me!

 

Probably considerably older than you, SG. Comes with age. And raising my 17 y/o mostly on my own since he was still in diapers... this takes very little patience in comparison to some of the stuff he put me through.

Don't let Roxanne (my other half) see that, Spa !! She'll want to do that to her PW Justa for sure !!
