It's true, mostly on impulse, for no other reason than "That looks like it might be fun to drive"
As the case of today's purchase, a base '02 mini, for...... $2,200 (score!) Already ordered a new hood, A Pillar cover, paint and wheels (17" konig feathers) within 2 hours of bringing it home today, rest is primo. Not sure what the rest of the plans are, but thats what im here for, find more ways to waste $

This is my justification for the mini- being able to FINALLY (after buying all the parts for it months ago) turbo the miata. I'm just about done building the DIY Megasquirt, using a stock mistu turbo, 460cc inj, innovative wideband, electronic boost controller, stock fuel pump, etc etc, 250ish hp easy peasy

Then there's also the v8 miata, pulled from a 76 stingray, TH350, made my own motor/trans mounts, blew out the tunnel completely, its a roller now, next step is to make the driveshaft, then bolt ons to fire her up ( of course this will take me another year to accomplish, one of those projects that are forever 50% finished, ha!)

And some of the other recent vehicles I've had in the past year, not including a Porsche 924, another 240x, 2 other miatas, and an integra. All within the last 10 months or so

I'm in the same boat, in the past 3 years I have owned, a 2005 R53, traded in for a 2009 Civic LX, traded in for a 335i sedan, sold and bought a 2006 Scion Xb, traded in on a 2005 Mini Cooper S, which I modded, then sold and bought a 2006 Kia Rio5 and a 1991 Miata, sold the Miata and eventually the Kia, and now own a 2006 R50.... there's actually a technical term for it, it is V.A.D.D. (vehicular attention deficit disorder)

Tell me, where do you find a $2200 MINI? How about some more pictures? It looks like it was in really good shape.

It did have a few dings, I had to replace the hood, grill, a pilliar cover, light dent in the driver door, the driver's sideview has a crack, rear hatch has rust bubbles forming, and some exposed rust starting on the drive side tail light.
All in all, its still a great car for what I paid, but most certainly not a $5k car that Im seeing same year/same mileage in perfect condition go for. Still, he did one better and sold it under the fair value , and made me one happy buyer!
