Brand New Astro Black R56 BABY!!!

Hello everyone!!
My name Is Dustin and I'm the proud owner of a 2012 Midnight Black Mini Cooper S!! I am new to this forum and the whole forum experience, as well as the Mini community too. So far I'm loving every part of it though.
Does anybody have any suggestions or advice for a guy who's never been a member of any forum before???
Thanks,
Dustin

Welcome!

One thing to note, though--it's not Astro Black. Astro Black got phased out a few model years ago. Midnight Black, maybe?

I hope this works!!

It is Midnight Black Metallic and not Astro Black. Who know's what I was thinking? Thanks for pointing that out wandrur!! Anyways, it doesn't look quite like this anymore as I have wrapped the grill/gas lid/ tail marker trim rings/ and side markers/ in flat black. I installed H&R springs, and I'm waiting for my wheels and tires so I'll drop in with some new pictures soon I hope.
Roadrage1, it'll be fun to watch our new cars become unique, both black, who know's how different they will become?

Half the fun is modding!! Hoping to Platic dip my parts in the next few weeks. Tint the tail lghts and marker lights. Coil-overs, exhaust and CAI. I traded my 08 S with all suspension parts/coil-overs and Alta stuff, coming home from the dealership today I thought I was driving a UPS truck!!!!

I used vinyl to wrap my trim pieces because I wasn't sure if I would like it.

What is the story with "Plastic Dipping" stuff. I have never heard of this before, but it sound's interesting. Expensive? Permanent? Flat or Mat finish avail?

Hello, this is an incredible resource for new MINI owners, of whom I'm one.

Plasti Dip (tm), an aerosol can (or liquid for brushing / "dipping") paint-like product. Its most frequent use on MINIs seems to be for blacking out chrome trim items (of course, so puzzling to someone who paid extra for more chrome on his MINI ). Sold many places, home improvement warehouses and others. It does have a property of being able to be peeled off non-porous surfaces.

Sounds like you know your way arounds mods pretty well already; if you're not accustomed to forums, a good thing to remember is to recognize that "problem" posts are more common than "my car is just fine today" posts (although I think there's a thread for that, vs. 100's of threads for anything else). Often times, the only thing that will draw a person to a forum is that they're having an issue, and want to check out their experience with other owners. Of course that can result in valuable info, but it can color the overall tone of the place ("geez, these cars must be cr@p, 9 out of 10 posts are about something going wrong"). The other hand of that is: with all the problem posts, you *can* get an idea of common issues that have been dealt with, and how.

Enjoy...you already know that these are amazing autos!
