I finally snagged my first Mini. I've been itching to get one for about a year and I recently pulled the trigger. It took a while to find just the right one but my patience payed off. I had to travel 800 miles to get it but it's totally worth it. A 2009 John Cooper Works in Dark Silver Metallic.

I've been lurking for a while and wanted to officially say hay.

insanity and don't forget (like others have said), post some pics.

 

I hear that all the time and I've never had my scoop distort. Weird.
I do have an NM Engineering turbo heat shield, maybe that helps.

Well it's about time!!. Welcome. I have never seen the scoop melt.

 

Thanks for the welcomes to both of us. Asked a friend on another forum (a R53 owner) for recommendations for MINI forums, and he pointed me here.

BTW: I didn't mean to steal the OP's thread.

As for the melted scoop, every used 2nd Gen MCS I looked at had it, whether it was a 2008, 2009 (like mine) or a 2010. I understand 2011 models have small holes in it for venting.

Came out of church this morning and found a business card from the local Mini club under the wipers. Cultish bunch, you folks. ;-)
