mini connect without gps

i am waiting for delivery on a mini s convertible next week and i ordered the mini connect without the gps. i am having regrets now since i think i would have liked the gps feature. Is it possible to add a factory style gps through the dealer or after market and connect it to the min connect after taking delivery of the car? i already have a regular garmin nuvi but i now think that i would prefer the factory installed one.

My guess would be that it would be more trouble than its worth as you would probably need a new connect computer and gps receiver.

I would probably just stick with the Garmin as they are usually better as you usually get updates a lot faster than the factory units do.

I ordered the same thing only because I've heard from this site that the gps feature is very sub-par, not worth the cost, with they wouldn't have ordered it, ended up using a Garmin.

I use a mapping system on my phone so I figured I'd save the $$$.

That was my thought when I ordered the mini connected without the gps; I guess that the only advantage of having the factory one installed is that I could download addresses from my iphone into the gps withou having to re-type the info when looking for a new address.. The car should be here at the end of next week. Thanks.

I just received my clubman last week and mine had connected with nav included in the tech package. I originally didn't want it because I use my phone for routes but my girlfriend insisted on it. Wow, this thing is pretty sweet. You can search for an address on your computer or iPhone and send it to your mini. The traffic system is actually pretty spot on. On the weekend they closed a highway for a motorcade and the closure popped up on the nav and it detoured us a new path home. I think it's sweet IMHO.
