WRX transplant
hey everybody! i came over from the jdm world with a stage 2 bugeye WRX (stg2 is roughly 275hp) very fun car, made some good noises... but it just couldn't hold its own in the twisties.
i've been wanting an r56 mini for about a year, so i finally hopped in one a few weeks ago. the power is completely lacking from the wrx, but that is honestly the only downfall... it's an amazing car, the build quality puts the wrx to shame... and i can accelerate up hills in 6th gear! hazaa!
just wanted to say hello to everyone! i've got some fun plans for this car, nothing too off the wall but it'll be very fun, that's for sure. this is one of the best handling small cars on the market... the only one that sticks out in my mind as being better is a 2nd gen lotus elise (coming from an ex lotus salesman).

don't get me wrong, i miss the wrx like crazy. it had a whole bunch of torque and it got me through every snow storm we encountered in jersey, but i wanted to get into something a bit more economical and more lotus-esque.
one day i'll own a big turbo 2007 sti, though. that will be a fun car. it seems to me that the community here is very similar to the community over at clubwrx... anyone post over on that forum, as well?

I do on occasion, and my husband used to be very active on the board (we still go to the meets)...sounds like there is a good chance we might have met?
So far, it seems that the Club WRX board is much more active...I hope that isn't the case.

well i've been a member there since 2007... but i never went to any meets on the east coast. i was in kansas for 3 years for school and went to a few meets out there and autocrossed a bit. my forum name over there is fire_cky... but i haven't posted in a month
Gotcha...I post pretty rarely, but you may have come across MBS627 on there. Are you planning on autocrossing or rallying on the east coast? My good friend runs the Philly region SCCA autocross, and my husband runs the Philly region road rally program (we are having a rally around the beginning of October if you are interested).

It is going to be part distance, part trivia, and will be mostly in Bucks County river country on public roads, some paved, some not so much
The final details (such as date and time) are being ironed out as we speak. I will keep you posted, and can pretty much guarantee there will be a thread appearing on this in the regional boards with all the details.

Very nice! I grew up in the area, too, and we spend a lot driving around up there.
Just got the phone call- the rally is scheduled for Oct. 16...details to follow.
