"Those Waiting for a 2012" Support Group
Mine said the samething when I called the automated system.
When I spoke to a person, to ask if we had a production week, he said it was already in production and should be done In a few days. So who knows... I will check back I a few days .
Mini ought to be monitoring these threads.
These cars are essentially barcoded. There is no reason that the system couldn't be more precise, timely and user friendly. The Ask Mini techs are great, but they are limited by the same system we're using, although it seems the interface with the OL and the dealerships/Ask mini has a HUGE lag. The powers in charge could make their product more attractive by streamlining in real time...

Great surprise indeed!
If you care to, you can improve on the "who knows how long" to get on ship part by checking sailings on the KLine and WW schedules. That will narrow it down to 1-n potential ships, and when they may leave.
Or: your MA may call you. Mine did...but I was already in the know, and drew a lucky card that it was traveling on WW, who provide that VIN# trace feature, so I knew what ship, etc.
Otherwise, someone had asked about timing/sequence: Mine was ordered 2.4.12, was assembled 2.27.12, at Southhampton on 2.28.12, and left for Baltimore on 3.7.12.
One side note: the WW tracker claimed my "slot" on the ship had been reserved on 2.1.12, so it appears these, like production, are reserved in advance. "We'll put 1-n vehicles on that ship sailing on 3.7.12" was done ahead of time.

So excited! Time to try to forget about it again...Not going to happen....

That is great news! Yes? Congrats on the new baby coupe!
I called today after my MA last week said it went to Production Pack on the 6th, but still shows no confimed Production Date. ASK-MINI could not add any more info.
I dont know what is worse, waiting to hear its in production or waiting to get it all the way to the west coast.

Picked up Vickie today!
Happy Day! I picked up Vickie today. It's my wife's and my anniversary so she took the day off too so we could go motoring together. What a nice surprise! The weather could have been better (it was supposed to be sunny and around 70), but that didn't stop us from doing some topless motoring up by the upper Delaware River around Hawks' Nest.

Yeah the weather in north jersey today was a little cloudy, but low 60s is still great driving weather I'd say!

For those that are on the Talisman - is it arriving on time - i.e. the exact date it was predicted it arrive in the port, or earlier or later? Just wondering how much wiggle room there is when they give you an arrival date.

I looked for webcams at Baltimore, but came up empty. What did surprise me was: I'd scoped out the *huge* WW auto delivery center at Baltimore harbor, and stayed up late to watch Tirranna dock there on AIS. Imagine my surprise when it sailed right *past* there, then "anchored" across the harbor. Once I saw that, I turned in for the night.
The next morning: I discovered that the spot where it anchored was actually the dock for the BMW VDC that's across the harbor further north. D'oh!
I spoke with my MA on Monday, who didn't yet have a delivery date but confirmed that my MINI had arrived and was finished with the VDC. Just now checking OL, it's showing an "estimated delivery date" of Friday, 3/23, but to check with my dealer for more info. Sweet. They have a checkerboard top to install once it gets there and will "bring in a guy" who always does theirs.
Getting close! Maybe this weekend...but more likely early next week, I'm thinking.
I purchased my MINI through Classic, but I think I am still in production.
The talisman updated this morning with an ETA of 0430 UTC which (I think) was last night around 1030pm Central. But its still only halfway up the Chesapeake Bay. So unless I (and google) doesnt know what UTC is (which is entirely possible) its running a little behind. however I do believe my car will be unloaded today at the VDC.
on a side note, i did a little bit of searching (OCD
) and found that BMW is sharing the Mercedes VPC in Baltimore for their middle america shipments, whose address is 2900 Childs St
Baltimore, MD 21226
so you can google that if you want
