Tallest driver? A Maxi in a Mini

Greetings everyone. My wife and I are trying to buy a Mini Countryman right now and hopefully we should close in the next 10 days. My wife has been wanting a Mini for a number of years but budget concerns and timing have never been in our favor.

My wife is an environmental engineering Ph.D student and was looking to replace her previous ride, a '97 Ford Explorer V8 AWD she dubbed "The Planet Killer". When the Ford went to SUV heaven unexpectedly a month ago, it opened the door for the Mini conversation again.

Normally I like to have a short list of vehicles to consider but because the Minis in general are (ironically) good for tall people, is purchase was in a class of one. At 6'11" tall (but my legs belonging on someone a bit taller), you understand my nickname here. Originally we were looking to do a Clubman, but since we have elementary school-age kids, the conversation has now moved to a Countryman.

I'm learning what it means to own a Mini from a friend who took delivery of a Countryman a few months ago (and I think is on this forum). But I'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks. I'll be hanging out in nthe Countryman forums doing a lot of reading.

I'm 6'1 and the seat isn't even close to all the way back. I've had several 6'4-6'6 (I think he was 6'6) passengers who had ample leg room. On one occasion I had said 6'4 person plus his wife of equal weight (but shorter) fit in the back.

Will you fit in a mini? Yes. Will anyone behind you have legs? That's up for debate.

Yes, I already know I fit in all the Minis. But in a standard Cooper, no one can sit behind me. In a Clubman, children can sit behind me snuggly. The Countryman has a tad more room than that.

Me to!

At 6'7", my seat is all the way back against the back seat. Notice my license plate! I have a coupe. Originally thought of a Clubman, cuz I like the back doors. But figured people would say I bought it for the extra length for my height. We all know the extra space is in the back; but to avoid multiple explanations, I simply went with the smaller MINI. Besides, how cool is this, when I get out and stand up At 6'11", it should be even MORE amazing. You Rock!
Motor on............

I'm 6'5 and with the seat all the way back I can still fit in the back seat. I wouldn't want to sit back there for a long trip but for short drives it would be fine.

I am 6' 2". I have a long torso. MyMINI has a sunroof. On bumpy roads I have hit my head on the roof many times. I do not know how much taller people "fit" in a MINI comfortably. I have plenty of legroom as I sit with the seat all the way back.

Our long family nightmare is over. The Silver ALL4 hath arrived.

Premium Package
Cold Weather
Leatherette
Mini Connect + NAV
Bonnet stripes (only on a MINI can you do racing stripes on a family hauler)
A few odds and ends

My wife is THRILLED....I should hope so...it's her car!

I took delivery of my 2012 Mini Countryman ALL4 S in February of 2012. I'm 6'6" and I have but one complaint about the legroom. The blasted left footrest has to go. Has anyone heard of the left footrest being removed???

?

Any shared knowledge will be greatly appreciated.
