Delay on order?

Hi folks. First post. 4 weeks ago yesterday (March 21st) we purchased a MCS Convertible at a NJ dealership. At time of purchase MA estimated delivery 6-8 weeks. Status still shows "on order" , I have no production date. I'm trying to figure out if this is typical or if something has gone wrong here? Is anyone in a similar position to me? I didnt get a tracking number immediately, only on follow up request to the MA 2 weeks after purchase so cant be sure on actual order date. MA had no further info end last week and can't tell me when to expect it - not even a minimum wait time from here. Any info you have most welcome. Thanks in advance!

4 weeks seems a little much from what I've read on these boards and experienced myself. Have you tried 1-866-ASK-MINI (1-866-275-6464)? I don't know if they would be much more help, but its worth a shot to see if they have any other info. All you will need is your Production Number.

Thx. I called them again and this time was told it's at "production pack" stage which is in the step before a prod. date. So I guess its moving.

Don't trust the owner's lounge website. It's always always behind. Just call ASKMINI everyday like I've been doing since mid-March. :D

It sounds like your MA isn't giving you all the information they have. When I ordered mine (3/26) the MA was honest and told me the only allocation they had for what I wanted was for a week 16 production. The normal wait time is 6-8 weeks but my wait time was a few weeks longer because it wasn't going to go into production right away. It sounds like that's what happened to you too. She also told me that there was a chance it would get bumped up because customer orders get precedence over general dealership inventory builds. It did get bumped up 1 week and it's scheduled to be finished tomorrow.
If you can find out what production week the allocation the dealership gave you is for you will know when it will start production.

So I heard from the MA today that the car was "just released for production" (5 weeks after ordering) and is expected 5 weeks from now - many cars delayed "due to the storm in Japan" - by which I'm sure is meant Tsunami etc. Is anyone else hearing anything about such delays?

I just picked up my Clubman today. The MA told me the same thing. He said it is a good thing that I got my car now. He said Mini has cut back the alottment for each dealerships. Also, he doesn't think they'll have the incentive programs, at least not the free premium package for May. They have a lot of orders to fill and since their competition will be cutting supply, Mini is expecting more demand.

Continued delay in production - nav components

By way of update - now advised that vehicles with nav delayed due to parts shortage. Still no production date (also dealers now no longer allowed to put new orders in with nav). Anyone else in this position?

Yup I am almost at five weeks now, can't get me ma to tell me what the hell is going on either. If my ma can't give me a straight answer by this weekend I am just going to cancel the order. They tod me 6-8 weeks when I ordered it, I have sold my car and am car less right now. I can't go forever without one.

I think since they supposedly run JCWs once per month, you missed the April run cause mine went into production right before you ordered yours.

I will give you that I missed april, that really did not come as a surprise to me, but it is may 11th now, and the car still has not gone into production. Which would mean June production now, and now I am hearing all this crap about MINI not building cars in june that have connect, which would mean I would be delayed even longer.

Your wait will be like mine. I ordered March12 but had to wait on an April build slot since I wanted the lower aero kit price. I was acutally already talking to my MA since Feb, but didnt' place the order yet, till I was absolutely sure about the aero kit price.
And even then, I was told it was an April 1 build slot, but it still got pushed back another week and a half cause they didn't build JCW's right away.

And my car just arrived at the dealer the other day, 4 days later than scheduled. And I'm still waiting cause they still haven't been able to schedule my JCW suspension install yet.

The wait is killing me, but it did seem to go quickly. But ultimately it's up to you to decide if you want to wait or not. Or maybe drop Mini connect.

At last - in production, scheduled complete June 8 (11 weeks after order). i believe it was mainly the nav that delayed it.
