New member... Wanting to be a Classic Owner
Hey Everybody!
I currently do not own a Mini, but I fell in love with my GF's new (09) Mini S. I am an owner of a Genesis Coupe 2.0T and really like to participate in GenCoupe.com (Genesis Coupe Forum).
Anyway... I fell in love with my GFs Mini and now I'm in the hunt for a classic Mini. I am currently looking into buying a 1983 Mini.
I was wondering if you guys could help me...
Is there a 1983 with 1000cc? I thought they were 998cc? Or do people just say 1000 instead of 998?
I found a 1983 Mini for $5200 OBO... This is within my price range but there are couple things but there are couple things I just found out:
There is a small oil leak. (I think all Classic Minis have them)
It does smoke upon starting but not while running. (Is this Bad?)
After market headers and carburetor to make it more drivable. (What does this mean?)
The breaks have not been serviced. There is an issue with the breaks, haven't had time to investigate more since it's been winter but they still make the car stop just not very well. Happened right before winter. (I do not even know what to think)
Any suggestions or help with the decision are greatly appreciated.
Thank you! And I hope to own a Mini soon!
