Having a Merry MINI Christmas in the Catskills

Hi Folks - Just bought a 2007 Mini Cooper from my great uncle's estate. HE bought it at age 94 and just passed away this fall at 97. He loved this little yellow and black machine. I'm awaiting its arrival from Chicago to New York after Christmas. It only has 9,400 miles on it now - any advice for quirks or things to watch out for?

Glad to be a part of the community here! Happy Holidays...

Nice! very low mileage is even NICER!

I got my 1st MINI this past July. Its an '07 MY/MCS. I'd say watch out for those cold start rattles. Mine started after 2 months then the chain tensioner had to be replaced. Luckily it was under warranty. I'm a newbie but I came to find out from the mechanic at my local dealer that you should watch your oil. Most in the forum seem to agree with changing their oil more than what the dealer suggests. I change mine every 5K intervals and the car feels good.
Besides the minor interior rattles I get and the annoying runflats, I love this car!

Enjoy!

Welcome to the NAMily Catskills!!
If you indeed have a "justa", then you won't have the issues that the CooperS's are having, at least Molly hasn't. I would however have it checked out by a local Dealer, especially if it had been setting for any lenght of time. The Warranty will be still be in effect so if the check up finds anything it should be taken care of.

It will be like Christmas all over again once you see and are able to FINALLY drive your Baby.

Good Luck and remember there is a wealth of information found here, you are among Friends!!

Welcome aboard. You may want to check out some local MINI groups for info on rallies and other stuff. Happy motoring!

Thanks for the input, guys.

So I have been wondering about the Runflat tires it comes with. I'm leaning towards replacing them with something else, but only because I have heard they are annoying in many ways. Any thoughts on this??

Ditching the runflats is one of the best 'mods' you can make. You can search the forum to see comments like "Dramatic improvement", and "Why did I wait so long?" Go for it! The Justa even has a spare in case you get a flat.

Welcome to the forum, your uncle must have been committed to having a good time in life, 91 when he bought it, way to go.
