I'm waiting for my new Mini Cooper
Hello,
I am new to this community. I live in Northern California and am "patiently", yeah right, waiting for my new Mini Cooper.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get to the Bay Area once it leaves Oxford? I think it is shipped to Oxnard, in Southern CA and then is trucked up our way, but am not sure. It's been a month and am hoping it will arrive soon.
I having been checking the Owners' lounge and it is still enroute. The salesman from Mt. View did say today that it is in port, but didn't say much else.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much.

What's up! I'm in Marin and my MINI just got off the boat...

We have a lot longer to wait than our friends here closer to the east... Our ships pass through the Panama Canal then come up the coast before unloading in Oxnard. Some ships head to the East Coast and make their way south, and others, like mine, went straight to the West Coast via the Canal with, in my case, SD as the first stop. The others might have a week journey, but we can expect a few weeks. Then a few days at the VDC, then a day to be trucked up. Which dealer did you use?
And don't keep us in suspense, what did you order?
You can PM me if you have any bay area specific questions you don't want to post, otherwise welcome, post away, have fun!

Also, assuming you are being shipped on the main line and not one of the secondary companies, your car will appear on their list shortly before, and during, loading. It may sit at the dock for quite awhile waiting for a ride.
Once it's assigned, you can search here:

using your VIN under Cargo ID.

Waiting for my MC
Hello Marin,
Thank you for responding so quickly. I'm not sure I am responding correctly. I ordered my MC from Mountain View and live in Santa Cruz.
I've been driving a 1979 633csi BMW for 30 years and finally decided to get a smaller car. It was a tough decision as my BMW was in pristine condition. I found a man who bought it and is taking it back to Germany. Perfect for my beautiful car to go back to its homeland.
I didn't buy anything too special with my Mini, as I probably won't be driving it too much. I got the Sparkling silver with racing stripes on the "bonnet." Automatic and got a sunroof. I'm really excited and can hardly wait to get it. : ) I haven't met one person who has bought a MC and isn't in love with it.

Nice work!
A lot of the track folks disparage the sunroof for it's added weight and structural instability, but for normal driving, I find it really great. Opens the car up considerably. Th MINI is so addictive as a vehicle and a lifestyle that my wife and I just ordered another after selling the first and driving a "theoretically baby friendly vehicle" for a year. We had to go back!
MINI of MV are good folks, from those I've talked to. When does your car go into production, did they say?

Hi,
A few friends of mine have Minis and love the sunroof. I had one on my BMW and had it open all of the time, so felt I wanted it again with my new car. How fun that you are getting another one. My husband drives a Prius, so we're set in the car department.
Oh, my car just arrived in port. I don't know where, just know a port. I presume it's in So. Cal. the site still says "en route", so hopefully it will be at the check in center shortly and up here sometime next week. I can only hope. I ordered it about a month ago.

Congratulations on getting a MINI. I know once you get behind the wheel you are going to love it. 30 years with the same BMW, I'll bet it feels odd not to see on the driveway, but like you said it's going home.
