I bought my first Mini a couple of weeks ago. 2002 base 5sp velvet red. My question is this. Although it works great no loud noises or catching while turning the wheel. How does the P/S pump fan operate? ie Does it come on at a certain temp. like the cooling fan? The fan turns freely by hand and as i said the pump works well and is fairly quiet. just the normal noise made by an electric pump. It increases only slightly when turning the wheel, this while sitting still. you don't hear it while driving. Please any help as to how the cooling fan is supposed to operate will be a great help. Also Lil Lucy was a one owner well cared for with 52550 miles,with a clear car fax report.
