I am the mechanic on a friends mini

I started working on a friends mini her last mechanic did not do a good job maintaining the car. So I am taking over the job.

Always nice to find a volunteer mechanic, hope the MINI doesn't take too much of your time.

If this were "Car Talk," Click and Clack would want to know if your relationship with this friend is purely mechanical or whether there is more to it?

reset thermometer?

Maybe you can help me--I'm new to the board today. The mechanic took all afternoon to figure out how to turn off the "check brakes" light on the dash, so I don't have the heart to tell him the thermometer now reads 102 F on a day where it might be 85 here, though probably not quite that high. The speedometer is fine, and knowing the outside temp is certainly not crucial, but it worked before and now, not so much. Thanks for your help.

The outside temp sensor may be bad, seen a few of them go. But the other option is the sensor is not in it's holder and could be too close to the radiator or something making it read higher. Make sure it is cliped in the holder on the bumper

I looked, but I can't see anything that looks loose. What does the sensor look like, and where is it, exactly?
