I just became a Mini Cooper owner

I purchased a 2003 Mini Cooper with 17,147 miles on it and the first owners had all the service records and the orginal window sticker. My only disappointment my wife can not drive a stick so I am trying to teach her but so far the driving lessons are not going to good. My first question did I pay to much at $10,500?

I love this site it has helped me with the air conditioner smell and what cold air intake system I purchased a DDM and the sound is simply wonderful and I can tell more power also. It has the orginal 15" wheels and I will want to upgrade at some time is the ride better on 15", 16" or 17" wheels?

Congrats and welcome to the MINI family. If you think you got a good deal - you got a good deal. It certainly seems reasonable with such low miles and I'm assuming the interior/exterior condition is barely used with such low mileage.

My 2¢ for the wheel size & tires. Ditch the runflats and go to 17's...it's a remarkable difference. Note: You bought a gen1 and I have gen2...should still hold true.

Good luck & post some pics when you get a minute.

congrats on the car. sounds like you got yourself a good deal there. as far as wheels go 15" will give the best ride comfort while 17" will give the best looks. the best thing is to find a local club and go for a ride in some cars that have the different sizes on them to get a feel for how they ride. I swap out my wheels for summer(17")/winter(16") The car does run smoother with the 16" but I prefer the looks of the 17's

Congrats on your new mini. I don't know if you got a good deal or not. What's important is that you're happy. Welcome!

Congrats. Sounds like a good deal to me. I have an '05 with about 20k on it. You should also consider a 15% smaller pulley, cooler plugs and 19mm rear sway bar (obviously I'm slightly bias). :-)

New Mini owner too!

I have a four week old "baby", my new blue Mini. What a BLAST to drive, especially after driving a Toyota 4-Runner for 19 years. (loved my 4-Runner, or at least I thought I did until I got my Mini). Driving it conservatively to break it in was so hard, waiting for that 1000 mark! Finally got there on Friday. Yippee! Now I can really rev it up.

Oh, I meant to ask, what are the best products to use on the paint (wax) and on the black trim parts?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum both of you, OP1 there is no reason to ditch your 15" wheels performance wise, looks wise the 17"s fill up the wheel wells better, the only thing is 17" tires run $10 to $30 each more than 15"s.

OP2 yeah getting breakin behind you is cause for celebration, have fun and let her rip.
