She wanted a bug, but thankfully, I found her a 03 mini S she liked (now loves) instead. Talk about a fun car to drive. She hasn't driven a manual trans in many years, but did great the first day out aside from a few incidents.

Two of note....after stalling and a car honked at her, she put it in reverse and backed up fast for a foot or so. Needless to say, they were very polite after that (both times different cars) They stayed like 200 feet away from her...lol.

Since she drives about 30 MPH everywhere she goes, I felt it necessary to put on some stripes and ordered up an ALTA CAI. I figured you can't have stripes unless there is something under the hood. (or maybe it was because I get to drive it if we go somewhere together)

This should be fun.

 

Your wife's car is a beauty. All it needs is a name. And all you need is one of your own.

So a couple months ago I "bought the wife a MINI..." Actually she bought herself a MINI and after a month I sold my Civic to the first guy with cash and bought one myself. I can't believe I've lived this long without owning one. Congrats on your new ride and yeah...you definitely need to find one for yourself. You will soon realize how attached people can get to their MINI's.

It sure is fun and I now hate my commuter beater I have to drive each day. Funny how I actually liked it just a week ago.

You have no choice but to find the bucks to buy your own MINI, you know it's going to eat on you till you get your own. Do it before you become mentally unbalanced, NOW!

 

Similar situation here.
My girlfriend bought herself a MINI. I feel I must fast-track my purchase of a sports bike, or feel inferior in my economy car.
For now, however, we have been having fun together in the MINI. I'm off to give it a good detailing now after our mountain run yesterday.
Do your best to enjoy your wife's MINI ...by proxy!

HRM, Congratulations on your (wife's) new MINI!!!!! I just got my MINI and my husband is also jealous! I keep suggesting he get one too so that we don't have to do the coin toss thing everytime we go somewhere together!!!!! Your MINI is beautiful, love the stripes.

 

Thanks guys, as for sending a box of goodies, pretty much everything we could possibly need or want is here(its nothing like it was in 2003 when I showed up the first time) sending boxes is expencive, so all I ask of anybody intrested is to (1) Keep posting on NAM, there are manny great people here. (2) Help a soldier whenever you can, at the store, at the mall, give a wave when you are stuck in traffic next to a car with Veterans plates, it is the little things that mean the most to us. Most of all NEVER under estinate the power of just saying "Thank You for your service" it has made a few of my bad days a little better.

Is that a Harley in the garage with the MINI? You will find MINI people stick togeather like bikers.

oddly enough, the same day that this thread started I signed the papers on my 2010 MCS...just about 3 weeks after my wife got her dreamcar...a 2006 fully-packaged MCS

yes, I drove it and said "I need one" so I ditched the 2-year-old Nissan AWD Rogue and started shopping for a pre-owned...drove many, liked then all, but wanted the luxury of a warranty

now with my '02 Jeep Wrangler, I have the two of the most fun vehicles to drive...one on mud, snow, and sand and the other on twisties, curves, and backroads
