As my search continues (relaxing color preferences ) I wonder if I may ask for advice regarding what I've seen come up on CarFax. I have a potential candidate in mind. It's a 2005 MCS with 57K on the odo. The CarFax reports a computer module replacement and a pulse generator replacement. Are these repairs something to be concerned about? Thank you!

 

05 or 06 are good years. Good luck on the hunt. Take your time as there are some nice ones out there.

The Pulse Generator is also known as a crank sensor. A wearable part who's gasket often fails first with tell tails signs of oil seepage. As it's a difficult area to get at (behind the radiator below the SC) most shops recommend replacing the sensor along with the bad gasket if it has some mileage on it. Could be there were signs of that and hence the whole unit was replaced. It is what I would recommend too.

Comupter module ? Mabe the BCM ? I think MINI had a bad batch of these as I have heard of them also failing. Also not cheap to replace.

No, none of these issues raise any red flags for me.

The Pulse Generator sounds like a Very Important Part that fails on a starship and strands the good guys near the bad aliens.

 

Welcome to the forum, those items don't sound like something that would cause me to dump the car from consideration.

 

LOL! The Pulse Generator does sound like something that might be uttered from engineering on the USS Enterprise.

But it sounds like these are minor annoyances...I mean, now that they've been replaced. Thanks for the responses.
