Minis and Colors

I've been looking for, ok, a 2006 Blue MCS with a manual trans and no sunroof for over a month now. Talk about stacking the deck against myself! I think I may relax a bit about the sunroof though. I've also been keeping an eye on this forum for the same amount of time. I'm trying to learn what I can.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what years had what colors available. I prefer the blue but I'd consider several options at this point. I still want to concentrate on '06 (last year of supercharger, year before the turbo's first production year, and fits my budget easier than an '08 - '10 would).

Has anyone ever "settled" for a color you didn't initially want?

I have a ton of questions that I'll continue searching the site for or asking.

Thanks!

I can't help you with the name of the blue colors through the MINI line, but I did end up getting a color I thought I wouldn't want...I have never been a fan of the lighter shades of yellow, untill Butters.

I was looking for the Hot Orange with a black or blue top in my price range. After a bit, Butters (05 LY justa) kept turning up in my searches...I took him on a date (test drive) and we haven't been apart since. It seems that some MINIs choose their owner and not the other way around.

Since I brought him home, I have been very happy with the purchase. Too many Hot Orange here...Butters is one of two LY cabrios in metro area. I wouldn't paint him orange even if I won a free paint job.

I hope you get the info you are looking for (NAM is a good place to start)

Hopefully a MINI will find you too.

I'm 99.9% sure there is at least one shade of blue available for every year. Off the top of my head their names are - Oxygen Blue, Horizon Blue, Laser Blue, Lightening Blue, Indi Blue...

If you're going to buy used, I would suggest finding a good car with the features you want most and sacrificing on the color. (Says the girl who ran to the dealer the day they discontinued Oxygen Blue to grab up one of the last ones ever made.) Remember, you can always have a car painted. Or the color might grow on you. But some factory features are much more difficult to install aftermarket.

I don't think you should have a problem finding a blue mini, Just keep on searching. Blue seems to be abundant... Also, I think the manual trans on the S is more common than an auto S so you should be good there.

Thanks for the responses. Great advice. I pigeonholed myself with what I want and every time one comes close there's a kink. I remain stubborn with the year and transmission. I can probably tint the sunroof. I may have to open up on the color. I know that's how it is in life. You can adopt, adapt, and enjoy what you have. Heck, it's a Mini!

Butters...haha! My favorite character...'sides Cartman

Sunroofs are a blessing, Sure its a bit bright in your car. and for about $200 you can get a good 3m perforated vinyl cover for it to match your roof.

But '06 manual is definitely the way to go.

Hot Orange is a nice color if you choose one to open up to =) Know it was available in 05, not sure about 06, though.

I agree with the suggestion of finding the "right" car equipmentwise even if you have to give some on color. I really can not believe there are no Blue '06 MINI S cars out there, with so many for sale right.

I think you should give British Racing Green serious consideration.
