German Autobahn
German Autobahn
Hello from Germany. Stationed here, bought a JCW Clubman. Hit the Autobahn after the break-in period (dealer here said no break-in required? I put 2K on the car before I started rodding it).
Interesting facts:
first oil change/service is at 30K kilometers (18,000 miles).
No problems. Mini came with summer Dunlops, they hold the road nicely. Put Kumho winters on it, actually all seasons, which likewise run nicely.
Complaints:
The brakes are great, but dust a lot. The rotors rust, which is a daily occurrence in this part of Germany. I'm thinking about alloy rotors and ceramic break-pads when my limited bank account can support it.
Otherwise, all is well.
Just thought I'd say howdy. Oh, the German Autobahn has a 130 k/p/h speed limit in some places, but no limit in many as well. Mini tracks very well at 200 k/p/h (120 mph). I'm not brave enough to blast to the 167 mph the speedo lists.

Come on Rick, don't you want to see at least 220kph, if I had the autobahn handy I would go as far as the little rascal would let me.
Anyway, congrats and welcome to the forum, post a picture or two of the Clubman.

Oh come on, I did 160 once in my camaro and it was a bit scary but a jcw should be much more stable and I'm sure the roads are nicer than the bridge where I did it. 120 should be no sweat and wanting more in your car.
I was on the Autobahn in Germany when visiting my son who was stationed there while in the Army. We were going 105 mph in his little Toyota many times. What blast! I predict the OP will soon be pushing the speed up more as he gets accustomed to 120 mph.
