New to the community-My new BRG 08 Clubman S!!
I just picked-up my BRG Clubman S from the dealer yesterday and drove 300 miles with my oldest son to bring it home… WHAT AT AWESOME CAR!!!
For weeks I debated between buying a slightly used recent model (second generation), buying new from the lot (saw several, but not what I was looking for) or ordering a new one from the factory. With some many options to consider, I joined NAM some weeks ago and surfed looking for advice first instead of repeating threads (a lot of good advice! So I did not have to bore the community to dead with the same questions over and over and ….!). Went from the coupe talk 07+ to clubman talk 08+ and found many good comments about the interior space, seating, etc (with 2 kids, you need the space!) that help me decided at the end to go for a clubman. Originally I was planning to buy a cooper S hatchback but two weeks ago I found a slightly used 08 clubman S fully loaded (Tuscan leather seats, matching interiors with navigation except for Bluetooth, sport, cold weather, premium packages, etc) over the internet, showed to my wife and the rest is history! Make the offer this week and got it yesterday (my old car is sleeping outside of the garage).
The trip was a great bonding experience with my son, and he was having a blast playing with all the gadgets on the car and enjoying the drive. As I said before, what an awesome car and what a “punch” they pack on the cooper’s; in more than one occasion, I have to watch my speed….. well to be truthfully, my son was watching my speed and telling me to slow down or I will get a ticket! You don’t realize how responsive is the car, even without the sport button engage!!!! At one point, I was driving 60 miles/hr with a pick-up truck and a Mercedes E350 behind me and an 18 wheelers in front of me passing another truck, so I was waiting for the truck to pull back to the other side of the road but the gentlemen on the Mercedes could not wait, so as soon we passed a slower 18 wheelers he just switched lines and passed the truck in front of me from the right side and got stuck in front (heavy traffic and he hesitated if he could fit between the vehicles in front and the truck in the back), so the truck pull-over, I hit the gas, passed the gentlemen and for next 50 miles he tried to catch me! And as all of you know, driving in congested Highways, maneuverability wins over engine power (yes, you can have 268hp V6 power but if you cannot pass vehicles, it does not help you!)
Now, my only regret is that it took me so long to buy one (7 years and 2 cars!) but now that I have it, I am planning to keep it for a long time (my son already told me that the car will be his first car, he is 10!)
I am posting some pictures from the dealer as I haven't have the chance to download the pictures from my phone.

Here is another photo with my oldest son after we picked her up; we stop to eat and he ate so fast just to get back on the road that I was amaze (he is not the faster eater)!
Happy motoring everyone!

What a beauty!! It's the EXACT Clubman (except for the S) that I want so much. A hearty Congrats!!
Thanks for posting the larger photos too -- really shows off all the details.
