New MINI in the driveway
New MINI in the driveway
Talk about 2nd childhoods, what else can explain a 72 year old MINIac? Well last night a 2009 JAC was dropped off here in Salt Lake after its jouney from Ralph Schomp MINI in Littleton, CO. The local dealer didn't have what I wanted so by internet, long distance, FedEx, and Accelerated Transport we made it happen.
The Chili Red/White combo was a joint agreement with my wife. After having a mild stroke in February '08 I had to be reasonable and go with the automatic. Having seen what can happen to the right side of your body in a minute of time, (I was able to recover 90%), no sense in risking to have to try shifting a manual with my toes if there would be a second stroke coming.
I put 200 miles on "Scooter" today and can't wait to hit the 1200 mark as shifting under 4500 rpm is a real bummer!
Pictures will follow soon.

Welcome to the MINIverse Ben! I DO hope you've started your OCMD collection: your detailing rags, your special waxes and soaps, special brushes to get the dust out of the itty bitty cracks....
(OCMD= Obsessive Compulsive MINI Disorder.) There are some really great events for MINI people - and you never seem to be lacking company, since the community of MINIsts is so diverse. Welcome, and please share pics!

BensMini, welcome to the family. Also, you are just a youngin' compared to HWS. He is in his 80's and has well over 300,000 miles on his silk green '02 MINI. As far as I know, he is still going strong with no signs of slowing down.
Gotta warn you this is a tough addiction - the more you do it the more you want to --!! Glad you are having fun with the Mini.
