Week 40 of 2009 Super Support Thread
You're in...Texas? Is that right. I seem to recall that a lot of people whose cars were going to TX went through the GA VDC, but I wonder, with your MA telling you that you'd be processed through Charleston.
Perhaps call your MA and double check? Maybe for some reason they decided to process yours through Charleston instead and you'll be on the Sierra Nevada with me!

Johnny-
I can absolutely relate- my car was completed on 10/4, and ASK-MINI has no updates since then. Not a clue. Don't know where it us, what's going on. Really frustrating.
At least you know your car is at the port! I think mine is in an employees garage somewhere...
But you're right about one thing- this watching and waiting is driving me crazy. Must stop.....but can't until the ship leaves. Then I'll start lurking in the week 41 thread...
Good luck! I hope you get onboard!

I'm such a nerd. I'm listening to the local radio channels on the http://www.ais-live.co.uk/aismap/Web...tonwebcam.html site.
They just closed up the Sierra Nevada and she's preparing for departure. The flight attendants are now going over the seat cushion being used as a flotation device. I do hope that Sriracha isn't sitting in an exit row, though.
I really *am* going to have to go get some popcorn.

Clive is about a fifth of the way across the North Atlantic...and for all of us it looks like smooth sailing over the next couple of weeks with no anticipated hurricane activity.
This week is going to be sloooooooow...

Eurokoke,There are several links on this thread and a great one in First Gear on how to track you car.The links in this thread will let you find a car on WW let you see the shipping schedules for arrival and departure, and if your savvy enought let you view webcam pics in the port.Welcome to the dock.
A new update. My MINI has not left the factory lot yet. It has not loaded on the train to the port.
On 10/6 Ask MINI said I was at the port already.
So I'm guessing I'm going to be waiting some more. Bon Voyage my fellow week 40ers.

@Third Wave:
I'm really sorry to hear that Johnny. There are only a few people who seem to have even worse ordering stories than myself, and so far you're leading the pack
If any of us should of had a car on a boat today, it should have been you.

and happened to catch my ship right as she passed in front of the webcam.
I'll lose sight of her by tomorrow, I figure, and then will have to try my luck with her callsign and the sailwx site (http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...tml?call=3EIO4)I also used www.marinetraffic.com a bit, too!

That's a real bummer, especially after being told it had already gone to port.
My guess, for what it's worth, is that you'll be on the Manon next Tuesday. I remember reading on one of the other threads -- perhaps the tracking thread -- that MINI won't actually send your car on the train to Southampton if there won't be a ship there relatively soon to pick it up. I imagine the storage costs at the port are far higher than storage costs at the MINI factory.
I've no idea what the train schedules are, but perhaps they kept it at the factory lot just so that it wouldn't have to sit at the dock for a week.
I remember that someone in the Week 34 thread posted a link for tracking cargo by train to Southampton. I didn't find it until well after my car had already set out, so I didn't use it or get the specifics on it, but there might be further posts/tips in the Week 34 thread on using that website.
Sorry to hear that some have not got aboard yet. My wife was so excited this morning when I told her ours finally showed up and was scheduled for the Turandot. Now she says she doesn't care as it doesn't show that it was put aboard. Hopefully tomorrow morning I can give her good news again. I'll still be watching the progress of the Turandot as it heads for Port Hueneme.

Just enter your VIN as the 'Cargo ID', and hit the 'Track' button. It'll tell you if your car was loaded aboard or not.

Hey Johnny-
Really sorry to hear about the screw up. I'm in the same boat (that is, not on the boat). Not sure how they managed to give us misinformation and then not update it accurately. I'm still AWOL- how do they manage to build such great cars and then lose them for days at a time?
Oh well, I'll get over it- just frustrated.
Keeping the faith. Though it's tough sometimes. My wife keeps telling me it will be that much more special when it finally arrives. Just wish I could go comatose for a month instead of obsessing!

The MINI site can take 48-72 hours to update sometimes.
