Hi Johnny,

That only works inside Marine Traffic "zones". They're around coastal areas, but I haven't found any out in the open Atlantic.

I've been using this one:

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SHJC

Change "SHJC" to the callsign of your ship (easy to Google if you don't know it already)

It's been tracking across the entire Atlantic.

If you read thru the thread, I think you'll see that we've all already been there

The callsign of the Turandot is "SGBA", although you don't need to know it (you can also track by the vessels name).

The Turandot has not had a position update on sailwx.info since it loaded at port on the 9th. 'Marine Traffic' was at least able to follow it out of port (real-time no less), and to just off of the NW coast of France, until the ship left their 'zones'.

Hopefully sailwx.info updates their data sometime between now, and the next vehicle cargo ship mishap!

Thanks!?

Hey, I have been reading this thread for a few days off and on. You are all making me crazy. I was content when I ordered and knew it would be 6-8 weeks for arrival. Then I found this site and have been following the joys and sagas of others. Well now I am hooked. I now know how to tell when my Mini was completed, awaiting at the port of exit, the ship it is on (Manon), where it is presently on the Atlantic, when it will arrive in NS and finally in NY(10/22/09). Not one to write much on forums, but wanted to thank you all for the good tracking information. Won't be long before all in week 40 are motoring around this great country of ours. Don't know if you read this but oil almost hit the high for the year on Tuesday. That Mini MPG will be nice.

Me too. I was supposed to be a Week 42, but it looks like I'm booked on the Don Carlos as well.

Lonely in Oxford...

Ah, just me. Still no progress or updates. No record on the WW site. I guess someone needs to stay in England and hold down the fort!

when do you think TURANDOT will reach the Panama Canal? It would be cool to catch a live cam shot of the vessel if the timing was right...

Turandot to be in Panama Canal

Sonero, not to flame, but in my previous post it shows Turandot to be in the Canal ("Arrive Date") on 9/21 at 6am, but it is currently "not booked". The "Transit" time (which I'm guessing is when it gets out the other side of the loch at the Sth End) is "AM 9/22", so all looks good. If you scroll all the way down here you can see the bookings:

http://boydsteamship.com/booking.php

and if you want to see the panama canal webcams and get the timing just right-

http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

Cheers!

I think my wife is trying to steal my car. It's not even on the ground yet and she's calling dibs. So, what do I do? Say, "Yes, Dear." and promptly order another car...but this time a JCW hard top?

Hmmm... interesting, but I don't know. If she really wants it, I think you could go for the JCW convertible!

Looks like we've got everybody covered as long as we don't have anymore last minute changes...excepting Jay. C'mon Jay, let's get you on board!!!!

After all this Johnny might lose his ride?? Don't know if you'd want to go through all this again too soon. My wife wants the new Speedster so I've got some time before having to go through this again.

So it sounds like with all the fancy sailing on the day of departure, the Turandot might be a little behind schedule. Current WW schedule shows it to be in Manzanillo on the 21st. Sounds like it won't be there until the 22nd.

Don Carlos pulling up to the dock. What a trip. Sitting at home eating pasta carbonara and watching a cargo ship thousands of miles away pull up to the Mini Cooper transshipment dock in real time!

SO...my car is supposed to be at the dock but the vin isn't showing up on a manifest yet. Am I worried? Not in the slightest. The computer may not be updated yet(it's only 5.30 in the morning there). Even if it doesn't get on this ship, the Tarifa comes in next week and gets to Port Hueneme on Nov. 13...only 2 days after the Don Carlos. Apparently Tafifa is a non-stop to Port Hueneme (via Manzanillo).

There is no point in being worried about this. Mini obviously knows what it is doing. I'm not aware of anyone not getting a car because Mini lost it or it fell in the water at the dock or whatever. I doubt that W&W has been leaving cars at the dock just for the hell of it.
Imagine if this were 200 years ago. A ship sets sail and it is not heard from for many months or years. Those people had good reason to worry about their car's transshipment.

10:45 PM PDT Don Carlos at 0 knots at the car loading dock.

I'm catching the Don Carlos...

Received at terminal 10-14-09 Boarding today (probably right now). Departing 10-15-09.

It is such a rush to have the Track and Trace suddenly come up with information.

Getting nervous, our car has been at the terminal the longest, other than 3 cars received the day before ours, and we still have not been loaded on the Don Carlos. I thought we might have been the first loaded.

Faith in humanity, in Mini, and the support thread all-stars...

Well, at 5:30 AM (PST) I finally got the thrill of seeing my VIN show up in the WW site! I've gotten so used to seeing the red "No Records Found" and hitting Quit I almost missed it!

Received and Booked on the Don Carlos... Whew and Phew! Packing the Dramamine (or the automotive equivalent)! You guys pulled me through!

Jay
